South Farms' features a premier farmland destination in Litchfield County and our award-winning events venue,
The White Barn at South Farms
Conveniently located between NYC and Boston in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut, The White Barn at South Farms is a state-of-the-art special events venue creatively constructed within the iconic Sam Paletsky Barn. South Farms boasts a working farm, stunnin
g pastoral views, and all the amenities you would expect with a premier year-round venue. Settled in 1723, Morris formally known as South Farms, was a rural outlying community part of the Town of Litchfield. The community in 1859 incorporated as its own town and renamed itself after James Morris, a local Revolutionary War Officer and founder of one of the first co-educational secondary schools in the nation. Over the past 160+ years, our homestead still overlooks unchanged rolling pastures and meadows capturing the area’s rich regional history and continues to be one of the most iconic homesteads of Litchfield County. Sam and Ruth Paletsky purchased the homestead in the late 1940’s and operated a successful dairy and cattle operation until retiring in the late 70’s. Today this 4th generation farm continues to host grazing Black Angus cattle, produce hay, corn and pumpkins. The White Barn at South Farms idea materialized as a way to promote farm preservation, adaptive reuse, and create a unique channel for a community and beyond to experience this incredible landscape and architecture. In 2015, South Farms welcomed their first wedding clients and quickly grew to become a premier year-round wedding and event destination venue in Connecticut.
