If you want to beat the summer heat (or dodge those passing thunderstorms), come hang out with us inside Cryptid Mountain! To help you plan your visit, we are officially moving to our Summer Hours starting June 1st:

Sundays & Mondays: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Tuesday & Wednesday: CLOSED (The monsters need their rest!)

Thursday, Friday, & Saturday: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM

⚠️ Important Note: The last round of golf starts 30 minutes before closing each day, so make sure to arrive early to secure your scorecard!

🌲✨ WV MYSTERY FILES: REOPENED ✨🌲

After the release of new UFO-related government files, people are once again revisiting one of the strangest stretches of West Virginia history — the September 1952 “flap”.

Across just a few days, reports poured in from different parts of the state:

👁️ Flatwoods (Braxton County)
Witnesses described a glowing object, a burning metallic smell, and a towering figure in the woods.

👨‍👩‍👦 The Snitowsky reports (WV folklore accounts)
Local retellings describe a family encountering strange lights and unexplained disturbances during the same regional wave of sightings — often linked in UFO folklore to the broader Flatwoods event cluster.

🌫️ Wheeling (“Bashful Billy”)
Just days later, reports of lights, odors, and a possible landing site fueled another local mystery in the Ohio Valley.

Some say it was:
🛸 a single object moving through the region
🌩️ a wave of misidentified natural phenomena
👁️ or something we still don’t fully understand

What’s clear is this:
West Virginia became one of the hottest UFO regions in the country almost overnight.

It’s almost time for the vault doors to open up as folks prepare for the Wasteland Jamboree in Flatwoods/Sutton this weekend. Even though we will be busy securing things here in Morgantown, we’ll also be celebrating with our cryptid friends here on Cryptid Mountain!
