Today, I attended the “Where Tourism Meets Community Luncheon and America 250 Awards” where I was recognized as the incoming Chair of Cayuga Tourism.
I wanted to thank Tour Cayuga and the Emerson Park Pavilion staff for a wonderful event, as well as Erin Katzker for her tenure as Board Chair. An additional congratulations to my friend and colleague, Melody Smith Johnson, for her County-wide recognition as a pioneer for Women and BIPOC initiatives.
Below is my speech from the event:
Thank you all for this incredible opportunity to step into the role of Chair for the Cayuga County Tourism board and continue our work building on our region's fantastic momentum. It’s my firm belief that our cultural sites, small businesses and scenic landscapes are the most precious assets in our county, and it’s a privilege to help advocate for them.
Of course, I would be remiss to neglect recognizing the shoes I am about to fill… Erin Katzker, for seven years you have led this board with unmatched passion, vision, and enthusiasm. You fostered such a positive environment for us all and your support of equal representation across our counties sectors and broad landscape was personally not lost on me. Your tenure has been one of community and economic growth within our county. I have no doubt you will continue having a lasting impact on Cayuga County arts and tourism.
Erin, on behalf of the entire staff and board, thank you for your dedicated service. To show our deepest appreciation, we have a special gift to present to you (a Mackenzie Child vase and bouquet).
