Blue Galaxy would like to wish everyone a restful and peaceful day.

Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865—the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were finally informed they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had already been signed.

This day matters because it reminds us that freedom and justice in this country were not equal or immediate for everyone. It highlights a real part of American history that many people were never taught in full, and it honors the resilience of those who endured slavery and kept pushing forward even after generations of injustice.

For those who question why Juneteenth is recognized today, it’s not about division—it’s about truth. Acknowledging history doesn’t erase anything else; it helps us understand it better. You can’t move forward as a country without being honest about where we’ve been.

Juneteenth is about reflection, education, and recognizing that liberty delayed is still liberty denied.
