Meet the owner and operator of Ungarnished Kitchen and Catering, Kevin Saff! Kevin has spent his professional career in the kitchen, working his way up from a dish pit in a local bar and grill in his hometown of Bradenton, FL. He climbed the ladder the hard way - one cut, burn, and verbal lashing at a time.
While making kickass meals for a charter fishing lodge in Gustavus, AK, Kevin met his future wife and Ridgway resident, Jamie Nixon. She is smart, hilarious, and beautiful so he moved to Ridgway to win her heart in 2013. In 2021 the Saff’s moved to Montrose to support Jamie in her career advancement with Alpine Bank. Since 2013, he has worked in several great restaurants in the area with his 25 years of experience.
Kevin takes a “boots on the ground” approach to learning about nutrition and making healthy food taste delicious. He cooks 365 days a year, whether commercially or for his family. If he wouldn’t feed it to his wife and step-kids, he damn sure won’t feed it to his community. Proper diet and exercise is a focal point of Kevin’s life. While he dresses like he’s in his 20’s and looks like he’s in his 30’s, Kevin is actually in his 40s and credits this to prioritizing whole ingredients in everything he eats. In 2023, Kevin completed the Imogene Pass Race with his wife in a pair of cut-off slacks from Walmart. While training for Imogene, he was eating food straight from his menu at San Juan Coffeehouse where he was the kitchen manager during this time.
Kevin is excited to offer local catering and is looking forward to launching a dinner preparation service to the hard workers of our local community who deserve a tasty meal with healthy ingredients.
