The doors of the old barn have been swinging open again.

We’ve hosted a few beautiful weddings here this season and lovely parties.

Laughter beneath the rafters.
Dance floors waking back up.
Bouquets carried through the grass.

That familiar tiredness at the end of a beautiful weekend that somehow makes you love the work even more.

And now the countryside is leaning toward summer.

Windows are down.
Gravel roads are dusty again.
Coolers are being packed.
People are lingering longer outdoors in the evening light.

Out here at 1884 On The Bluff, we’re getting ready for another Bluff Sessions evening on June 20th.

Saturday’s Kelso wedding at 1884 On The Bluff was one for the books 🤍

From the sweetest personally written & delivered vows from Anna & Quentin… to Uncle Mike’s officiating debut… to Ginger the cat making her unforgettable appearance at the top of the aisle & on her own terms - no further… this wedding was overflowing with personality, emotion, laughter, music, and joy from beginning to end.

The guests showed up READY to celebrate. The dance floor stayed packed, the music from Logan at It's Electric Entertainment carried into the evening, and the energy never let up. And through it all, the parents absolutely beamed watching it unfold.

The beautiful bouquets, succulents, and floral work by Vicki from Zaiser's Florist & Greenhouse in Burlington added such a lovely touch to the day. FORK Catering Co. absolutely delivered from appetizers to dinner, Jamie - owner of Blondie's Sip and Bistro coffee truck was a huge hit with custom drinks named just for the couple's big day, and the dessert table… well… there may have been actual miles of cheesecake thanks to Kodie's Kreations 😄 (served enthusiastically by Steve, who embraced his volunteer dessert duties with professionalism and gusto.)

Kevin of Developed By Duver captured the day through videography, Doug Ewing Photo documented the celebration beautifully, a talented team of hair and makeup artists helped everyone shine, Ruby helped keep tables cleared and the evening flowing smoothly, and Sophie Whitmore helped us handle the bar through a very lively celebration.

Most of all, this couple wanted a PARTY — and surrounded by family and friends who loved them fiercely, they absolutely made it happen.

(And if we forgot to mention someone who helped make the day special — please tag them! So many wonderful people poured themselves into this wedding weekend.)

One incredible wedding weekend at the Bluff. 🌿 We'll be here - basking in the glow - with our feet up for a few days. Hope you had the time of your life!

Some weddings are elegant.
Some weddings are emotional.
Some weddings are unforgettable because they become fully alive.

The Kelso wedding at 1884 On The Bluff somehow managed to be all three 🤍

The ceremony was absolutely packed with people who clearly adored this couple. The dance floor stayed full all night long, the coffee truck was a massive hit, the desserts disappeared quickly, and the energy carried all the way to the very end of the evening.

There was laughter echoing through the old barn, guests lingering long after sunset, and one very famous ginger cat quietly stealing hearts along the way 🐈

And beneath all the celebration was something deeply genuine about Anna & Quentin together — the kind of connection people don’t just witness… they feel.

One thing that especially stood out to us this weekend was the incredible group of family and friends surrounding this couple. In the moments where extra hands were needed, people stepped in willingly, cheerfully, and worked right alongside us with energy, effort, humor, and stamina all the way to the finish line.

That kind of support says a lot about a couple.

What a weekend.
What a crowd.
What a wedding.

One thing about this crew… once the dancing started, they were ALL IN 😄🎶

The dance floor stayed full, the energy never really let up, and It's Electric Entertainment absolutely took everyone where they wanted to go musically.

There’s something really special about watching a group of people fully celebrate a couple with that much joy!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the Kelso wedding such a fun, heartfelt, unforgettable party at 1884 On The Bluff 🤍

Wedding weekend has arrived at 1884 On The Bluff 🤍

Tomorrow the Kelso crew begins arriving to settle into the old stone house, laugh, unpack dresses, steam shirts, and ease into the kind of weekend people remember forever. Four floor cots are out & made & waiting for excited bridesmaids 😊

Rehearsal begins Friday at 4:30 pm — and honestly… how cute is this? Anna & Quentin rented the Montrose Riverfront Inc. building for their rehearsal dinner, catered by FORK Catering Co. Such a fun local touch.

Over here on the Bluff, we’ve been deep in preparation mode:
• 150 ribbons tied onto linen napkins
• chargers cleaned and stacked
• extra helping hands brought in for the wedding reception
• Doug mowing, hauling, moving, fixing, fluffing 😄
• vendors coordinated and arrival times confirmed

And meanwhile… the land has been doing its own work.

The daisies are absolutely showing off this week — blooming and swaying like they know something special is coming.

Mother Nature is putting on a spectacular show for this sweet May wedding weekend, and we truly couldn’t feel more grateful for it.

Now we hold our breath just a little… because we're excited... and let the celebration begin. 🌿
