If you looked up the phrase “opposites attract,” this could be the poster for it. Me and Crystal from Southern Posies .

She's sweet, girly, and loves to hug everybody. Me? Well, if you know, you know. 😂

Crystal and I met at a wedding show years ago, and although we were "technically" competitors, we became friends.

Fast forward to 2020. COVID hit, and as much as we're different, we do share some similarities. We have to be doing something, and we're both slightly (OK, annoyingly) detail-obsessed.

Since events couldn't happen and we can't sit still...let's pivot. We decided to start teaching people about flowers, and Basics to Blooms was born.

Fast forward to this past Saturday. A hurricane had turned what was going to be the most amazing event into wedding ground zero. Not exactly what anybody had planned.

BUT......WE GOT THIS! LET'S PIVOT!

Crystal called in the cavalry...family, groomsmen, neighbors, AMAZING vendors from all over the state, and together what seemed doomed turned into something pretty incredible.

I guess we didn't realize back in 2020 that we were practicing for the pivot of the century.

I cannot wait to share pictures of this event. Not so anyone can brag or say, "Look at me," but as a testament to what this industry is capable of when we all work together.

Whether you're the owner of a company or the kid who got dragged out of bed to come help, every single person mattered. ❤️

Life Before Brendle — Part 4

Before we owned the rental company, I was the one calling the rental company. 😂

For this wedding I was the planner, florist (hey Leah hey) AND a partial caterer (🤪 long story) —and Brendle was our rental company.

I worried about the flowers, the food, the drinks (my margarita recipe is unmatched), the tent, the tables… ALL OF IT.

And never once did I think, You know what would be fun? Owning the company responsible for the tent too.

Yet here we are. 😂

Spending all those years on the other side of a rental order matters SO MUCH now. I know what it feels like when that truck pulls up, and I know how much you're counting on what's inside it being right. Because, I've been there.

And another neat twist — the bride and groom from this wedding now do flowers. Shout out to Old Oak Creative!

Apparently none of us knew what we were getting ourselves into. 😝

SOMEBODY WILL NOTICE.

One of the hardest parts of a rental business? Keeping white tents WHITE. 😅

This was Sunday. The event is over. Everybody was tired. It was raining. And putting tarps down while taking down a tent makes an already long job take even longer.

Do we always get this right? Absolutely not.

But this is what I mean when I say the little things matter.

Nobody will ever know there was a tarp under this tent while it was coming down.

But somebody WILL notice if there wasn’t.

Proud of our guys for doing it the harder way.....even on a rainy Sunday. ❤️

We’ve all been there - Wedding Pro Edition 😂

Forecast last week: 2" of rain Saturday. 🌧️

Cue the phone calls, weather-app refreshing, cancellations, and everybody trying to find a tent at the last minute. 😝

Us on Saturday: literal sprinkles. 🙄

Okay… who actually got the rain on Saturday?!

Well...this little secret is starting to get harder to hide. 👀

Walls are going up, plans are coming to life, and every week we're getting a little closer.

There is still a WHOLE lot to do...but I can finally start seeing what I've had in my head for months. ❤️

And yes...the yellow wall is going. 😂

Well, daggum it!

I’ve known Tea Olive Designs for well over 10 years.

When I first met her, I was a planner/florist and she and her husband owned a specialty rental company.

Fast forward all these years and somehow we switched places. 😂

Now Kelly and I own a rental company, and she’s the planner/florist.

This past weekend we got to work together one last time. This GORGEOUS wedding was her grand finale before retirement.

And y’all...she’s dang good. Organized. Prepared. Thoughtful. She knows what needs to happen and makes sure it happens. 💪👊

She's what a planner should be.

And no I'm not just saying this because she sent Kelly home with a box of the BEST chocolate chip cookies I've ever eaten. 😝

Gosh I hate to see her retire, but I sure am glad Brendles got to be part of her grand finale. ❤️
