🍂 A little fall has arrived at Flowers Galore! 🍂

I decided the farm stand needed a little fall makeover! 🌽🌻

And of course, I had to make the flowers match. 😊 I have 3 fresh bouquets out tonight, and I went with those warm, pretty fall colors!

Stop by, grab some flowers, seeds or a little something from the stand — and don’t forget to peek in the Little Free Library while you’re here! 📚🌸

I think I’m officially ready for fall now… even if Alabama weather isn’t! 😂 No pumpkins yet…. But coming in the deer stay away 😂

🎃 It’s almost PUMPKIN SEASON! 🎃

I can’t wait! And I think we’re doing better than last year…but I’m definitely not going to brag too much. 😂

Last year, our pumpkin plants made it about two weeks before the deer discovered the buffet. 🦌🌱

This year, as you can see, we’ve made it quite a bit longer! 🙌 So everybody keep your fingers crossed…and PLEASE don’t let the deer know I posted this on Facebook. 😂🤫

I’ve learned my lesson about bragging around here.

The last time I bragged about how pretty my flowers were, I didn’t sell a bouquet for a whole week! 🤦‍♀️💐😂

So I’m saying NOTHING.

These pumpkins are doing…adequately.
Nothing to see here, deer. Move along.

September is when next year’s flower garden begins!

It may still be hot outside and plenty of flowers are still blooming, but now is a good time to start doing a few little things that will make life MUCH easier next spring.

Here are a few things I’m starting to think about around Flowers Galore:

🌱 Save seeds from your favorites.
If a flower was beautiful, productive and healthy this year, mark it and save those seeds!

✂️ Start cleaning out the tired plants.
You don’t have to clear everything at once. When something is truly finished, pull it and clean up that little area. Ten minutes here and there beats an entire weekend later!

📝 Write down what worked — and what DIDN’T.
Trust me, you think you’ll remember next spring. You won’t. 😂 Write it down now!

🌼 Mark your perennials.
Before everything disappears for winter, make sure you know where those perennials and bulbs are hiding. Nothing like accidentally digging one up next spring!

🌿 Get ahead of the w**ds.
Every w**d you keep from going to seed now is potentially hundreds you won’t be fighting next year.

🧹 Clean as you go.
Empty pots, trays, buckets, tools and supplies can slowly be cleaned and put away instead of becoming one giant end-of-season job.

And probably the biggest lesson I’ve learned…

🌸 You don’t have to grow EVERYTHING!

Pay attention to what you actually used, what sold, what bloomed well and what brought you joy. Next year’s garden doesn’t have to be bigger — it can just be smarter.

A little work now can make springtime a whole lot easier!

💬 Flower growers and gardeners — what is ONE thing you’re doing this fall to make next year easier?

Apparently we’re decorating for fall now! 🍂🌽

The cornstalks have officially moved from the garden to the farm stand, and I picked up a couple of pretty red and orange lantanas to add some color.

No pumpkins yet — I’m not rushing fall THAT much! 😂🎃

Are you ready for fall, or are you hanging onto summer as long as possible?

Luke here! 🐾

Mom says Facebook told her she isn’t posting enough.

I don’t know what that has to do with me, but apparently I’ve been called into work. 🙄

So here I am.

You’re welcome. 😂 Can you believe I am as long as Mom’s luffa plant? I guess she lost her tape measure…… so I am helping out!

Does anyone want to buy luffa seeds for next year?

Things Nobody Tells You About Having a Flower Farm…

You can grow beautiful flowers.
You can make pretty bouquets.
You can put them in a cute little farm stand.
You can decorate it with cornstalks. 🌽
You can post on Facebook.

And then… you wait. 😂

Because apparently flowers don’t sell just because you’ve decided they should.

Some weeks they fly out the door, and other weeks you start checking the farm stand every 20 minutes wondering if everyone in the county has suddenly stopped liking flowers. 🤣💐

That’s flower farming! You grow them, you love them, you occasionally fuss at them—and tomorrow you try again. ❤️
