Frost has come to the farm.

Did we time that subscription end date perfectly or what?!?😆. The dahlias are frost kissed, and it’s supposed to be even colder tonight. I made my last farm grown arrangement today in my favorite color combo of the year- cranberry and orange.

Even in the throes of our passion for dahlias, I can't stop thinking about tulips. Beautiful, aren't they? These are the actual colors we are planting TODAY in order have the most gorgeous spring blooms for you. I am opening 20 slots in our spring subscription. Autumn is aglow! Today is the last week of our regularly scheduled subscription, but we are going to keep going as long as Mother Nature lets us! It’s also the time of year where we give a stupid amount (read: so many extra) flowers in our special orders. If you’d like to get flowers delivered to you this week, we are going big. Our standard $25 is going to be as big as a $35. Our $35 is going to be as big as a $50. Let’s empty the fields before the frost does!

Here’s what we have going on this week:

Flower subscription deliveries on Monday, and we will have flowers in the shop by late afternoon. (Message me if you want in on some gorgeous dahlias delivered for only $25!)

Restock of the stand on Tuesday and Wednesday (Make sure you come by!)

Other exciting news: we are starting a kitchen remodel and my winter project is turning the garage into a studio for wedding work. We need more space!

This photo is of a pocket style boutonnière Farmer Amy made for Homecoming. This style is so on trend and we love it since there can be a water source for the flowers in the sleeve, allowing for more creative selections of flowers; generally florists will use roses since they do well out of water. We were able to use black pansies, a gorgeous black-red dahlia, feverfew, scabiosa pods, and various types of greens from our farm. More pictures in the comments.

This has to be my favorite dahlia we are growing this year! It literally glows as it morphs color; when it’s a new bud the center tips are raspberry and as it opens you can see the full spectrum of orange. In cool temps the inside of the petals turn yellow. It tones in with so many color combinations. The stems are great and they flower so well!

Side note: Flowers for your teacher go a long way. We will deliver to any teacher from Elma to Hoquiam for just $5 plus the cost of flowers.

To all the men who help us grow…Happy Father’s Day!

Big shout out to Farmer Ben for all the times he’s hauled tents (and kids) to markets and dug holes for plants. He has lugged hundreds of bags of dirt at this point and built raised bed after raised bed. Love you babe!
