UPDATE: Tonight's Books and Bites fair will now be from 5pm-6:30pm instead of 5pm-8pm. Feel free to stop on by and grab some books and pickup a backpack voucher if needed. Thanks and hope to see you there!

Dear Community Members,

Please be advised of an update regarding the backpack and school supply distribution originally scheduled for July 26th and July 27th at Ski Hi.

They will no longer be handing out backpacks and supplies. Instead, they will only be distributing vouchers. Families can use these vouchers to receive their school supplies at River of Life (2602 Clark St, Alamosa, CO) on August 8th from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.

PUBLIC NOTICE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Temporary Single-Lane Road Closure on Sherman Avenue
MONTE VISTA, CO — Please be advised that on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, Sherman Avenue will experience a temporary single-lane road closure to facilitate critical infrastructure upgrades.
Motorists should expect delays and are highly encouraged to use alternate routes.
Closure Details:
Location: Sherman Avenue (at the Ski Hi Complex)
Date: Tomorrow, June 30, 2026
Time: Beginning at 8:30 a.m. and lasting approximately 5 hours (estimated reopening around 1:30 p.m.)
Reason for Closure: Installation and setting of a new backup generator at the Ski Hi Complex.
Please Note: A large industrial crane will be active on-site. For the safety of the crew and the public, traffic will be reduced to a single lane, which will cause travel delays.
Detour Information:
Through traffic is strongly advised to avoid the area and utilize the designated detour route:
State HWY 160 to County Road 2E
What to Expect:
Traffic Delays: Reduced speeds and flaggers may be present to direct alternating traffic through the single lane.
Heavy Equipment: Increased noise and large machinery visible near the Ski Hi Complex.
Safety First: Drivers are reminded to slow down, avoid distractions, and watch for workers in the construction zone.
We appreciate the community's patience and cooperation as we complete these necessary facility improvements.
