ESCA Advocates for Industry in Forklift Regulation Settlement

When California’s Zero-Emission Forklift (ZEF) rule threatened to impose unrealistic burdens on our industry, ESCA joined Western Propane Gas Association and Exhibitions & Conferences Alliance in backing legal action to protect ESCA members and the broader exhibitions and events community.

As a result of this collaboration, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has agreed that the rule is unenforceable pending EPA authorization, pausing both enforcement and reporting requirements for privately operated fleets.

This is a meaningful win that reflects ESCA’s ongoing commitment to a smart, workable sustainability policy. We didn’t oppose environmental progress — we opposed a rule that ignored operational realities and economic impact. Our members are already leading with reusable infrastructure, efficient logistics, and real, measurable practices.
