40th World of Speed Cancelled
Mother Nature and Bonneville have a very strange relationship.
It’s almost inconceivable that we could go from pristine racing conditions to this in just under a week.
“It is with much sadness that we report the cancellation of the 40th World of Speed.
Unfortunately, there was no possible way to safely get trucks and trailers off the end of the road and the water is 8-10 inches deep.
The first mile of course 1 is really rough and wet there’s a slight possibility for it to dry out the section between the 2 1/2-3 in time to prep the course for racing but there is lots of water just 200 feet off the mountain side of course 1.
Course 2 is trashed past the 2 and soaked with lots of standing water.”
