Yellowstone Workshop is a GO!!!!
----------------------------------------------
A massive thanks to all the staff at Yellowstone National park, all the emergency crews and volunteers who have been helping. It's truly devastating what has happened with all the flooding in the northern part of the park... Mother Nature can be brutal sometimes..

If you are attending the workshop, PLEASE print out or screenshot the Email that Mike just sent out.

It was great to get the Email from Yellowstone today that we could pass along to you with the good news...

It will be an honor to see you all there and have the opportunity to work with you again in such an amazing setting!

Please travel safe!

See you soon!

In all the years we've been doing Night workshops, this was the first time I'd ever seen the group get excited about shooting each other with the starry sky behind them. We've got some creative people in our group and it's been fun watching them explore the creative side of night photography.

While Todd worked on his Wordle game I was able to get him under the Dark Horse Nebula of the Milky Way.

Todd is a brand new photographer (5 days) and he's already nailing some gorgeous shots...

Today is the final day of this workshop and we will be spending the afternoon in our last classroom session helping the students polish their images to take home... It's been a great class and we are sure looking forward to the next one!

To all you Moms out there and everyone else, have a fantastic weekend!

With a forecast for cloudy skies we decided to stay a bit closer to Moab. As a result, our students were treated to 3 different shooting opportunities because the sky never really covered the stars. Our last location of the night was at Park Ave so our group could shoot star trails. In this relaxing situation where they all had their cameras running, they decided to take a break and sit down and relax during the duration of the shot. I set my camera up to document the scene. It was fun time for all and we are thankful the skies weren't too cloudy. Who knows what tonight will bring..

Last night Mike Berenson and Darren White Photography welcomed the entire group into Moab with crystal clear skies. We visited 3 different locations to take full advantage of he shooting opportunities. This was the last location we visited as we made our way back to the hotel. Our group split up (one reason we have 2 instructors) and the rest of the group decided to shoot star trails. I took Mark, Gary and Todd down into this little section of red rock that I really like and put them in the perfect spot to get the Milky Way between the 2 rocks.
This is a single image, no blends, no composite.
Shot at 4:51 am just before the dark skies were gone.
I hope you are all out there exploring and taking advantage of the dark skies..
Happy Shooting.

Giddy up as Mike Berenson and Darren White Photography take you on a wild ride though the dark skies of summer. Teaching workshops in places like Moab, Yellowstone and on top of Mount Evans in Colorado give you the most amazing places to capture the Milky Way as well as other celestial objects in the sky.
Our workshops kick off in May and we'd love to have you join.
We take great pride in helping others take their photography to the next level, no matter what gear they are using.

~Delicate Nights~
Today I am working on video tutorials for one of my clients and our discussion led us to "Blue Hour Blends" what are they, how do we shoot them and why do we shoot them?
This was one of the images I ended up creating for her, showing her the very simple techniques to bring the sky and foreground together seamlessly. All in all the edit took less than 10 min.
If you would like to take your night photography to the next level we start our workshops in May.
www.nightphotographyworkshop.com for all the details.
I hope you all have a great day!

Are you a "Blend" type of photographer or do you prefer to get the image in one shot? With advances in photography and processing we like to keep up to date on the latest and greatest techniques. Sometimes this starts out simply as a though, write it down, get home and start to work on it. It's safe to say that it doesn't always work the first time but it does help give you guidance in the general direction you want to take the image.

This is a scene you will be able to capture in the later season as the Cygnus region of the Milky Way lines up with Balanced Rock in Arches National Park.

This is neither blended or a single shot but rather it's about 25 single images shot back to back and then stacked to not only line up the stars but also give you noise reduction throughout the entire image. As you collect more data you are also able to bring out some more color that you simply can't from a single image.

2022 is in full swing and our workshops are filling up. Its going to be another exciting year in Utah (Moab Area), Wyoming (Yellowstone) and right here in Colorado at 14K feet on Mount Evans.

Mike Berenson has been taking his photography to new heights (pun intended) and doing some deep space work remotely though telescopes he rents. It's a very unique approach and he touches more on it during the workshops. It's not a technique we teach at the workshop but it lets you know that you really can photograph from all over the world right from your own home.

Here's what Mike had to say about this image.
Pleiades - The Seven Sisters
With the invention of the telescope, Galileo was able to see objects too dim for others to see with the naked eye. And because of that, he was the first person to see the cluster of stars known as Pleiades through a telescope. The cluster (also known as The Seven Sisters) features blue stars and blue reflection nebula - a sight to behold in Galileo's day and ours.
I captured this image (from my home in Colorado) using iTelescope.net's T2 telescope based in Mayhill, New Mexico. I captured 42 images over 4 nights (in a 2x2 mosaic) and processed them with Astro Pixel Processor and Photoshop.

To learn more about our workshops please visit our website for all the info and if there are any questions you have, please don't hesitate to ask. We love helping people take their night photography to a new level.
