"When one member of a family has cancer,
the whole family has cancer."

Lexington, MA Lexington Youth Against Cancer (LYAC) is a primarily a student-run non-profit organization that raises money to benefit cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Go to www.LexYAC.org and register today.
Seventeen-year-old Lily Hochman and eighteen-year-old Lauren Jackson are co-founders of the organization and seniors at Lexington High School. When Lily and Lauren were young, cancer hit both of their families and they felt utterly helpless. Well, they are helpless no longer. They founded Lexington Youth Against Cancer in their junior year, and raised 15K in 2011, their goal for 2012 is 30K.

Event Details Youth Against Cancer’s “Swim for Life” is this March 18th from 9am to 1pm at Minuteman High School indoor pool.. The event can host up to 200 swimmers. Each swimmer is swimming in swimming in honor of someone they know who has had or if facing cancer. The proceeds raised goes to Dana-Farber cancer research and patient care. Lexington’s Minuteman High School’s indoor pool. The swimmers will be cheered on by fans and friends while a DJ keeps the spectators entertained, Wally the Red Sox Mascot visits from 10:30 to 11:15, and there’s a silent auction that features a Gold Pass to Wachsett’s 2012-2013 season, a year of Karate Class at Alan Azoff’s Dojo, and many surprises from local merchants.

“I can change the world” optimism Our swimmers are supported by their friends and families, and together with Dana-Farber’s research teams and doctors we can make a difference. The event will draw on the energies of the students and help build in each of these future leaders the desire to do good, and they will be able to feel pride in their great effort.

This year we welcome LexFUN! who has put together a team of ten and under swimmers who are joining together to raise $500. Whether you can swim a few laps or swim a mile, help us reach our goal of 200 swimmers! If you don’t swim volunteer for donate in honor of someone you love.
