Several years ago, I officiated a wedding for the daughter of some friends of mine. The wedding was in their backyard, overlooking the Mississippi River. The sky was clear and blue and the wind was warm and light. I teamed up with two of the groom's friends who were Native Americans. One of them said a prayer and played a native flute. The other sang a song in the Mandan language that he composed for the occaison. The river was a backdrop for the ceremony and as the audience watched the an eagle flew north along the river, right at tree level. A beautiful day for a beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple.
