New Student Orientation at St. Catherine University this year meant we got to help welcome in a whole new class of Katies! 💜

Ice cream has this weird way of bringing people together, weddings, company picnics, a kid’s birthday party, all of it. That’s the whole reason I started this. I had the idea for The Sota Fountain years before I actually started the business. After more than a decade in corporate marketing, I left at the end of 2024 and finally decided to go for it — to build something of my own that could bring moments of joy to my community.

Now I get to be part of weddings, birthdays, company celebrations and ordinary summer days. Seeing people gather around the truck, enjoying something simple together is my favorite part.

Twin Cities Orthopedics first booked us for an employee appreciation event back in May, and then invited us back again in July! That is the best feeling right there.

After our first event, Stacy shared “I heard so many great things about the Ice Cream and the service! Staff also commented on how cute it was that it was you and your father serving the ice cream! We will absolutely be reaching out for you to come back this summer!” And they did, “We will most definitely have you back, everyone loved the ice cream, again!” Knowing a host has already saved our number for next time means more than I can say.

Event prep mornings are always a fun type of chaos, double checking the mix, loading more than I think I’ll need, coffee that’s already gone cold by the time I’m on the road.

Pulled up to A BEAUTIFUL Minneapolis home for a grad party earlier this summer and served ice cream to 150 guests. The menu included a surprise Grad Special Sundae, featuring chocolate and vanilla twist soft serve with Oreos and cookie dough bites—and I loved seeing the line stretch all the way down the driveway.

Private events are some of my favorites because the truck becomes part of the party. Guests wander over, come back for seconds, and somehow the ice cream window turns into the place everyone gathers.
