Born in Minneapolis, MN, Tabota Seyon grew up surrounded by Soul Food. When the time came for her to select her career path, she first opted for a creative business route – she graduated from The Art institutes International Minnesota and worked as the Student Accountant for four years – while in this student and administrator role Tabota Dreamed of Designing Restaurants as she was in the Interior Design Program. As a mother of three children, Tabota found herself picking up a 2nd job in the Catering Department for the Culinary Arts Program offered by The Arts Institute International MN. Managing a family became expensive as a single parent so Tabota decided to switch gears after being turned down for promotions as she moved towards a new career path. Today, she is an experienced chef who has worked in several professional restaurant kitchens in and around the Minneapolis, MN. area and is an accomplished Entrepreneur and soon to be author.
On the literary front, Tabota has combined her loves of food, people, and culture to write of her experience growing up as a biracial daughter of a mother who battled Lupus and what life was like cooking and caring for a parent at a young age. The homes she visted and the food they ate while her mother was in the hospital.
Tabota has been active with a number of not-for-profit organizations that reflect her passion for causes close to her heart. Such organizations include Project Sweetie Pie, an organization that works to provide urban farming resources and trains youth in farming. Woman Venture an organization that works to improve the lives of woman striving to become independent. She was also the Visual and Culinary Arts Ambassador and Liaison for Juxtaposition Artist Cooperative in 2014-2017 and at the Midtown Global Market 2020-2021 and last her own founding organization Infusedlife Plant Based Emporium to prevent the causes and consequences of, poor health, and malnutrition. Tabota aspires to bring woman together into a space where they can brings attention to the history of the food and wellness this is what inspired the café boutique she opened in Summer of 2021 in Minneapolis at 3800 28th Ave South Minneapolis.
Since the untimely close of her 1st café Tabota has been in recovery from a near fatal car accident that she was involved in in late 2020. Which made of a difficult time to open a brick and mortar business during the pandemic and civil insurrection. She has like most business owners needed to pivot. She is looking forward to reopening the Emporium in a new space. She is hoping that the winnings from the contest will help her continue to build her brand. As she continues to work on writing her experience to showcase it to the world. Tabota is hoping that it inspire others whom have a dream and a cause to fulfill while turning their pain into power!
