Thank you, Gwen, for your incredible service to Minneapolis Public Schools this school year in Safe Routes to School. Gwen created maps, set up workshops, managed volunteers, and biked with more than 500 students -- sometimes more than 40 miles in a single day. Said one MPS teacher, "Having the GreenCorps member was a game changer!" She was a great team member and friend to us in CWS - and always willing to pitch in when the team needed help. This powerhouse team of seven makes outstanding, high-quality meals every single day. Despite their large team size, their collaboration is unmatched. Everyone chips in when needed and supports one another. They’ve built a great connection with Roosevelt’s students and staff, creating a welcoming environment alongside great food.

It was a perfect Bike Day at Transition Plus this week. More than 100 students biked the South HS track – using every one of the beautiful adaptive bicycles and tricycles purchased this year through a Minnesota Department of Transportation Safe Routes to School Boost grant. The school choir sang as riders looped the track. Way to go students and staff for making on-bike education happen at Transition Plus! A special thank you to Marie Long who put Safe Routes to School dreams on paper and then worked hard to bring this day into existence. We are proud to be on this journey with you.

We had an amazing time hosting students and teachers from Bethune Arts Elementary at the MPS Nutrition Center this week. The kids dressed in bee suits to interact with pollinators up close with Pollinate Minnesota, rolled up their sleeves to make seed balls with Midwest Food Connection, and pedaled their way to fresh salsa on the Culinary & Wellness Services bike blender.

A huge thank you to our incredible partners and Bethune staff for making this hands-on learning day such a success. It's a very special day.
