The Cultural Wellness Center The CWC mission: "to unleash the power of people to heal themselves and to build community."

The Cultural Wellness Center(CWC) is a community-initiated organization that mines and synthesizes experience-based knowledge to both explain problems and deliver solutions. The work of the CWC is about carrying out it its mission "to unleash the power of citizens to heal themselves and to build community." To accomplish this mission, the CWC produces models to solve the problems that are created

by individualism, loss of culture and loss of community- key factors which our People's Theory of Sickness and Disease states..."makes you sick."

Honoring our ancestors... Memorial Day.
In 1965, the Black community in Charleston, South Carolina, was unsettled by the fact that Black Union Soldiers were dumped into a mass grave, and decided to take action.

They unearthed the bodies and gave each soldier a proper burial. The community came together in the thousands (10, 000) to honor the soldiers who lost their lives fighting for us to be free.

Libations is an Ancient African Ritual practiced throughout the African diaspora, honoring and acknowledging the first time, the first ancestors, and the first elements in creation. Libation is known as Kebhes in Ancient Kemet (Egypt).

In this video Elder Atum uses the Kemetic language called the Ren-Kem (speech of the Black) to "pour" Kebhes (libations) honoring the ancestors of the first time (Sep Tepi).

What rituals do you practice to honor your ancestions?
