Customer: your wreath is too expensive 🤨
Here’s the real cost of a quality handcrafted wreath ⬇️⬇️⬇️
I made a custom wreath for a repeat customer last night. It was an exact replica of a wreath I already made him so I did not spend time on designing or figuring out what looks good. As crafters we never really get paid for our time & experience, which can far out cost the materials used 🥹 I used about $27.50 in materials which I will double to determine the price of the wreath to be $55. So my “profit” 🙄 will be $27.50.
However it took me at least 30 minutes to order materials online. Longer if it wasn’t a wreath I had made before or if I had to travel to 1 or more stores in person. It took me approx 4 hrs to create the wreath, again this would have been longer if I it wasn’t a wreath I had made before. If I value my time & experience at just $10 per hour that would be $45 added to the $27.50 in materials for a new total of $72.50.
If I had to drive 45 minutes to my nearest craft supply stores & shop several stores for the supplies needed. At $10 per hour that could add an additional $40 for a new total of $112.50.
What about your vehicle expenses 🤔 monthly car payment, car insurance, inspection, registration, tire wear, gasoline, etc. If you add a portion of these expenses that same wreath would cost like $500 😂😂😂
Not to mention your electric for lighting & glue gun. Plus other expenses like the cost of your scissors, glue gun, ruler, rotary cutter, cut matte, hole punches, pliers, wire cutters, storage totes, etc, etc 🤯
