The 13th Annual Latino Family Expo will be held at South Division High School on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 11 AM - 4 PM, in the heart of the Latino community on Milwaukee's south side. The Expo's mission is to help the area's economy by providing vendors, employers, and families access to each other under one roof.

"We want to showcase our community to larger corporations and business leaders in Milwaukee," said Victor Huyke, Publisher of El Conquistador Newspaper. To highlight the purchasing power of this growing demographic, we feel it would be beneficial for the businesses to directly reach these consumers in a family-friendly/safe environment."

Not only will the Latino Family Expo host a Job Fair and a Health Fair, but it will also feature an indoor/safe "Trick or Treating" event for the children in attendance. Not to mention, the event is FREE and open to everyone.

"So come one and come all to this exciting community-focused event, which will be sure to feature the diversity of the area's consumers and their economic potential," said Huyke.

The Expo is sponsored by El Conquistador Latino Newspaper, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, UMOS, Visit Milwaukee, Gruber Law, Milwaukee County, El Rey Markets, Brown Berets of Wisconsin, Radio Caliente 97.9 FM, Candys La Chiquita, and En Mi Cuidad 365.

The 2nd Annual Caribbean & Latin American Festival is more prominent this year. Our event page has only been up for a month and a half, and it already has 10.2 K coming to the festival. Our phones have been blowing up at the office this week with last-minute vendors. We are getting many phone calls from a considerable crossover market.

We have two music stages featuring Salsa, Merengue, Reggae, Spanish Rock, and more. Artists include Jai Lewis, Brenda Jimena, Rich Tunes, Freddy B It Ain't Me, GP El Magico, DJ Fyre, Kalibre, Pulpa De Guayaba, Septeto Charambó, Trio Puerto Rico, Norteño Banda Imerio and Kojo. Kojo will perform a tribute to Bob Marley. It's a buffet of music—our mini music festival.

Danza Folklórico Mixe, Bembé Drum & Dance, Culture Viva, USA, and Salsabrosita are cultural dance groups that are performing.

Festival host are Miguel Ramirez, Telemundo Wisconsin, Mariella Godinez-Muñoz, Hoy Today, Walter Garrow, Conquistador News, and Alejandro "Alex" Preciado, 97.9 FM Radio Caliente.

The Milwaukee Art Museum has a booth for children to work on art projects. We also have a back-to-school giveaway and Driver's Education courtesy of Crash Course Driver Education Center.

Some of the local businesses in Walker's Point decided to do mini-festivals at their locations around our festival. It's going to be a massive party at Walker's Point! Come and check it out!

A Stop the Violence Peace Rally will be held at the Caribbean Festival at 1 PM; Local Reverends, elected officials, and Darryl Morin, Forward Latino, will join us with a message of hope and peace.

Caribbean music is a wonderful genre! It encompasses a diverse range of styles and rhythms from the Caribbean region, including reggae, calypso, soca, zouk, and more. Each style has its unique flavor and energy, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Caribbean.

Reggae, for example, originated in Jamaica and is known for its distinctive rhythms and socially conscious lyrics. Calypso, also from Jamaica, is a style that often features witty lyrics and a lively, upbeat tempo. Soca, popular in Trinidad and Tobago, is a high-energy genre that's perfect for dancing.

The Caribbean & Latin American Festival mentioned in the post seems to be a fantastic celebration of music, food, and culture. With a lineup featuring Latin jazz, rock, mariachi, merengue, reggae, and salsa, it promises to be an exciting event! Are you planning to attend?
