It was a beautiful day for a beautiful couple! The overall feel of the day was something special - warm, authentic, and timeless, yet fresh and earthy. Guests traveled to Milwaukee from all over the country to celebrate these two wonderful humans, and Jake and I were honored to be there capturing the love Heather and Nick share, and how loved they are by their family and friends. They exchanged vows a year ago on their front porch, patiently waiting for the day they could celebrate with friends and family. One year later and here we are! Now they just have to patiently wait a few more weeks until they can meet their newest addition. ❤️ So excited for them!

The lighting on these photographs are the perfect example of “a happy accident.” 😅

We intended to get the sunrising behind Alex which we didn’t quite make…however using the sun to LIGHT Alex was 😍😍😍 too!

Such a big part of photography (and my favorite part) is lighting. Being able to identify the light is key to a successful photograph. Not only studio or natural lighting but learning how to control both (to the best you can) is important.

Would y’all be interested on me sharing lighting tips/behind the scenes? Really though….a YouTube channel maybe? 😳

There are so many reasons couples choose to host their ceremony and reception in the same venue! Your guests won’t need to worry about travelling between locations or keeping busy during the time between ceremony & reception. Planning is streamlined, as you only need to worry about decorating one space. And with a generally later ceremony time, you’ll have ample time during the day to get ready and take all those beautiful wedding day photos!

What does the transition from ceremony to reception look like at Upper East? Once the ceremony is over, the bar is open for your guests and butler-style passed hors d’oeuvres will be served. Less than ten minutes and our team will have the tables and chairs moved into their dinner location and we’ll be ready for the reception. Simple, quick, and oh so easy! 🥂❤
