5 Points Art Gallery + Studios (5 Points Art Gallery & Studios ) is pleased to present “Changing the Tides”, a solo exhibition by Chicago-based artist and curator Destiny Brady (Destiny Brady ).

Born from a photographic gathering at the shoreline of Lake Michigan, Changing the Tides considers what it means to become the author of one’s own life after heartbreak, grief, and self-demolition. Through film photography, Brady explores reckoning, reconstruction, and embodiment, tracing the passage from what must be released to what might be rebuilt.

Rooted in Black womanhood, spirituality, water, and the body as sites of memory and transformation, the exhibition asks: What happens when we allow ourselves to change? What might we find on the other side of becoming?

The exhibition will be accompanied by a series of public programs inviting visitors into conversation, ritual, rhythm, and reflection, from an opening artist talk and open mic, to a drum circle and rhythmic ceremony, to a conversation on Daughters of the Dust, Black womanhood, memory, migration, and home.

The work and opportunities for 5 Points Art Gallery + Studios is expanding and growing, and it requires a shift of location and practice for owner and artist Fatima Laster. With this new season, the physical space is now for sale. If you are interested in carrying the torch of community enrichment, cultural preservation and elevation, and people-centered entrepreneurship that this historical building represents, please stop by for a showing. Every space was renovated for structural and functional soundness and designed with aspirational artistry. We welcome all that are committed to the work with integrity.
