What would Martha do? I've been a fan of Martha Stewart for over 35 years. From the start of Martha Stewart Living Magazine when I was 21, I began reading her books and soaking up any bit of knowledge she shared. I waited weekly for her Martha Stewart Living TV episodes far before today's DVR-ing luxuries, so I'm super excited to read and add her new book, Martha Stewart's Gardening Handbook to my collection. I will admit, I like knowing we share a birth date and that when I hit a proverbial "rock here in the garden" of running this farm I love so much, I ask myself, "What would Martha do?" Thanks, Martha!

A few warm days here in Delaware and the hostas and peonies are popping up out of the ground. It won't be long before the dahlia tubers can go in! We still have plenty in our shop and will be shipping all month. If you're still looking for some great varieties like:

How many new varieties of dahlias are we planting in 2025??? Give us your best guess to win 3 packets of our field dahlia seeds.

All this snow has me seeing white! What's your must grow white dahlia? Here are a few of my favorites.

Gitt's Attention - My first favorite white, Gitt's Attention's laminated petals and fullness, make this dahlia a forever top white for me.

Peace Pact - This is a nice sturdy little plant. (About 2.5' in our fields) Stem grow long enough for bouquets if you cut deep. I love its thick stems.

Alpen Cherub - a great collarette with long, wirey stems. Great for wispy arrangements.

Sandia Icicle - A new-to-me variety grew 5+ feet with sturdy stems for cuttings. A show stopper, for sure.

Wyn's Ghostie - Definitely not invisible in your garden! Big, bright white blooms on a tall 5+' plant. So beautiful!

Petra's Wedding is the perfect 2.5" mini-pom for bouquets with long stems.

Siberia - I'm excited to grow this for a second year. Beautiful waterlily blooms sit atop tall, rigid stems. My new favorite white.

Here on the farm, we leave some of last year's single seed dahlias in the ground over winter. If they make it, we have extra early blooms, which means food doe the pollinators. These get replaced by new seed dahlias in hopes of a few standouts. Either way, it's a win for the 🐝 and 🦋 .
