Walla Walla High School Agriculture teacher Jessica Johnson has been selected to receive the Honorary American FFA Degree, the highest degree bestowed upon an individual by the National FFA Organization, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to agricultural education and FFA.
Each year, the National FFA Organization recognizes individuals who have provided exceptional support to school-based agricultural education and helped advance the mission of FFA. Johnson is being honored for her dedication to supporting the next generation of agricultural leaders and for her contributions to local high school agriculture education and FFA at the national level.
“I am humbled and honored to receive the Honorary American FFA Degree,” said Johnson. “Agricultural education and FFA played an important role in my life as a young adult, helping me develop leadership, confidence, and skills that have stayed with me throughout my career. I am incredibly fortunate to work alongside a talented team of ladies who share a passion for agricultural education and creating opportunities for students. Receiving this honor is a meaningful reminder of why I am so proud to be part of the FFA and agricultural education community.”
Johnson will be formally recognized during the 99th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis, IN, scheduled for October.
In a letter notifying Johnson of the honor, National FFA Organization and National FFA Foundation Chief Executive Officer Scott Stump expressed appreciation for her commitment to FFA and agricultural education.
“The National FFA Organization continues to grow and make a difference in the lives of our members nationwide thanks to dedicated and outstanding individuals like you,” Stump wrote. “It is our honor to publicly recognize your support for FFA and agricultural education.”
