THIS WEEK IN MILAN!

It's Fair week! The 77th Milan Community Fair takes over Wilson Park Thursday through Saturday with the midway, a parade, fireworks Friday night, and Stealin' Copper closing out the weekend on the stage. One of the biggest weeks of the year in Milan.

A FEW HIGHLIGHTS:

Milan Community Fair Parade -- Thursday, May 28 at 6:00 PM, Downtown Milan
The parade kicks off Fair week at 6 PM. Lineup is at 5 PM at Paddock Elementary. Floats, horses, trucks, buses, and walking organizations all welcome. Everyone is invited to participate.

Milan Community Fair Fireworks Show -- Friday, May 29 at 10:05 PM, Wilson Park
One of the best fireworks shows in Michigan. Note: Wabash Street will be closed between Neckel Court and Main Street from 8 PM to midnight. If you park in the Wilson Park, American Legion, or Wabash Street lots before 8 PM, you will not be able to leave until the road reopens. Plan accordingly.

Milan Fair Midway -- Thursday and Friday 4-10 PM, Saturday noon-10 PM, Wilson Park
Rides and games all weekend long at Wilson Park.

Stealin' Copper at the Fair -- Saturday, May 30 at 7:00 PM, Wilson Park
Milan's own classic rock band -- father, son, and best friend -- closes out the fair Saturday night. Three-time Michigan Battle of the Bands first place winners playing the hits of the 70s.

THIS WEEK IN MILAN!

Summer is knocking. Thursday Night Cruises kicks off its season at Wilson Park, GetAway Bay opens for the summer Saturday, and racing returns to Darana (Milan) Dragway on Sunday. A great week to get outside.

A FEW HIGHLIGHTS:

Thursday Night Cruises -- Thursday, May 21 at 6:00 PM, Wilson Park
The weekly cruise night is back! All makes, models, and years are welcome. Live DJ, pavilion and picnic tables, and a splash pad and play area for kids. A classic Milan summer tradition.

Comerica Park Bus Trip -- Thursday, May 21, departs Milan City Hall at 11:30 AM
Hop on a charter bus to see the Tigers take on the Guardians at Comerica Park. Section 117 seats along the first baseline. Pricing starts at $30 for Milan residents 50 and older. Register through the City of Milan.

GetAway Bay Opening Weekend -- Saturday, May 23 at 10:00 AM
Getaway Bay officially opens for the season Memorial Day weekend. Water obstacle course, diving board, beach, and lake views. Season pass prices increase after opening weekend, so grab yours before May 23 at migetawaybay.com.

A warm and busy week ahead -- W4 Country kicks off Friday morning at the firehouse, Aid in Milan takes over The Owl Friday evening, and the weekend wraps up with a neighborhood potluck, a church family fun day, and a gnome painting class. Plenty to do all week long.

A FEW HIGHLIGHTS:

Firehouse Friday with W4 Country -- Friday, May 15 at 6:00 AM, Milan Area Fire Department
W4 Country's morning show broadcasts live from the Milan firehouse from 6 to 9 AM. Bring the kids to meet the firefighters, see the equipment, and connect with community organizations. Free and family-friendly.

Neighborhood Potluck with Milan Area Mutual Aid -- Saturday, May 16 at 5:00 PM, Old Fire Barn
MAMA's first community potluck dinner runs from 5 to 7 PM. Meet your neighbors, learn about mutual aid, and sign up to bring a dish.

Community Family Fun Day at Immaculate Conception -- Sunday, May 17 at 11:30 AM, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church
Raffles, raffle baskets, a bounce house, and family activities. Open to the whole community.

Happy May! A great week to get out and explore: Milan in Bloom brings the whole downtown to life Saturday, Cinco de Mayo falls on Tuesday, and the library has a morel mushroom hunting adventure. Something for everyone this week.

Morel Hunting in Michigan: Catch and Cook -- Tuesday, May 5 at 7:00 PM, The Center
A free lecture from lifelong mushroom hunter Yanna Sasu covering how to identify morel species, where to find them, and simple ways to cook them. Hosted by Milan Public Library and the Michigan Mushroom Hunters Club. Register at 734-439-1240.

The 10th anniversary edition features 10 tasting stops, 12 wine samples, snacks, music, and a commemorative bag and glass. A Milan tradition.

The 2nd Annual Earth Day Fair returns with live animals from Double JJ Farms, guest speakers, games, and interactive activities for all ages. Free and family-friendly.
