This year was a tough one due to a lot of rain to start the season and then a super dry/hot summer and early fall. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention the BUGS🤬!

We have finished digging, dividing and storing all of our dahlias!! It is always exciting, and nerve racking, to see what has happened under ground throughout the summer months. With proper watering and fertilizing, our plants produced so many beautiful tubers!!

Bloomquist York, from full bloom to dug, divided and ready for storage.

Digging, dividing and storing is no doubt, the most important and time-consuming step in the process that requires patience and care. Each clump must be carefully cleaned, inspected, and separated without damaging the delicate eyes. Once divided, the tubers need to be properly labeled and stored to ensure they survive the winter and are ready for next season’s planting.
