Midlothian Civic Center

Midlothian Civic Center The Midlothian Civic Center may not bring up much on a Google search, but it has been a community staple since its inception in 1958.
(1)

It was built for the community and by the community, using recycled bricks from an old school building down the street that was being torn down. The Civic Center Board purchased the bricks for a single dollar from the city and then went to work reclaiming them. Every evening, families would gather to sift through the usable bricks, cleaning them and setting them aside to build something magnificen

t from the rubble. Through the years, endless throngs of people have made their way through the old doors of the Civic Center, coming together with loved ones for reunions, weddings, receptions, anniversaries, retirement parties, birthday parties and baby showers. It was home to many proms and 8th grade graduation dances. It served as the meeting place for the Midlothian Home Economics Club from the 1950’s through the 1980’s. Currently, along with the community rentals, the Girl Scouts, the Rotary Club, the Chris Kyle Post 388 of the American Legion, and the Lion’s Club are just a few of the organizations that utilize the Civic Center on a weekly and monthly basis. This building has seen nearly every face of our tiny town as it has evolved and has been a memory for them all. As of 2014, it has been remodeled and given new life to serve our community for years to come.

******Final Update – Thank You for Helping Us Search for Riggs******

It is with heavy hearts that we share Riggs has been located. Sadly, he was struck by a vehicle and did not survive.

While this is not the outcome we had hoped for, we are incredibly thankful for the overwhelming support from our community. From those who helped search, shared posts, handed out flyers, made donations, or simply kept Riggs in their thoughts—your kindness and compassion meant the world to us.

Riggs was more than just a station dog—he was part of our family. We will miss him deeply.

Thank you again, Midlothian, for standing with us.

*****UPDATE - Help Us Bring Riggs Home******
May 5, 2025 @3:12 p.m.

We are still Missing Riggs. In hopes of encouraging his safe return, THE REWARD HAS INCREASED TO $2,500, thanks to the kindness and generosity of Car Pro Radio Network, which has aired on WBAP radio for 23 years.

*****UPDATE – Help Us Bring Riggs Home******
May 4, 2025 @ 3:30pm

We’re incredibly grateful to Carrie Butterfield and her tracking dog, Bullet, who generously donated their time and efforts to help us search for Riggs.

Our station cameras last saw Riggs around 2:45 PM on Friday, heading toward Highway 287. A passerby reported seeing him near the on-ramp around 3:00 PM. Carrie and Bullet were able to track Riggs to that same area before the scent trail disappeared.

We also received a report that a small black SUV was seen attempting to stop and possibly pick up Riggs around that time. We’re not making any assumptions, but we would greatly appreciate any information about this vehicle or the person driving it. It may be someone who was simply trying to help.

If you know anything that could help, please contact Fire Station 1 at 469-672-0920 immediately.

Thank you again to everyone who continues to support the search—we’re doing everything we can to bring Riggs home safely.

***UPDATE***
May 3, 2025 @ 3:00pm
We are still missing Riggs! A $1,000 reward has been offered for anyone who can safely return Riggs!
