Subscribers: I know it’s hard to wait for your next flower arrangement, but have no fear, it’ll be totally worth it. This is the lull period between spring blooms and summer blooms, and Mother Nature is busy working her magic to bring the next flowers along.

We anticipate your next bouquet to be in mid-June, maybe sooner! Watch your emails so you are in the know of when your next subscription will be ready.

Flower stand visitors: we won’t have fresh flowers for a bit yet but we do have garden plants and some seeds available this week for purchase. A mix of annuals and perennials, and some raspberry plants! Visit the stand at 1667 S Grey Rd and grab some magic for your own garden!

These tulips were grown in my garden with so much care and love, and I can’t wait to share them with you. They’re blooming their hearts out and will be at the flower stand tomorrow—Saturday, May 10—starting at 10am. Come snag a bunch before they’re gone… or I guess I’ll have to keep them all for myself! 🌷

Native Plants 🌱

Native plants are so important to our local lands. Whatever zone you live in, there are plants native to that area, and should be our focus in our home gardens and landscaping.

Native plants…
🌸help with water runoff and flooding
🌸provide beneficial nutrients to pollinators
🌸are easy to grow and maintain: they can thrive in poor soils and are mostly drought tolerant
🌸reseed easily/regrow every year, providing beauty for years to come without having to buy seeds or plants year after year

Our favorites for zone 6 are purple coneflower, yarrow, horsemint, and lupine. The first three even have medicinal benefits and can be used for tinctures, teas, and the like. All of these also make beautiful cut flowers, and you’ll find them in our flower subscriptions and in our flower stand bouquets!

We say native plants are a win! What native plants do you grow, or hope to plant this year?

Do you have your seeds ready? If you’re in zone 6, you can plant those annual heat loving seeds in mid-May (I usually play it safe and plant the last week of May). This year I did sow some marigold seeds on May 5 and will just cover them if we get a random frost.

Our Pollinator Mix seed pack has zinnias, cosmos, and marigolds and we recommend the mix to anyone who doesn’t have experience growing flowers, as well as anyone who does! These are so easy to grow, and bloom all season long. The bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies love this mix. They require almost zero maintenance (aside from watering at the beginning and a possible thinning if you want, and we recommend deadheading to promote more flowers). Plant in full sun and watch the colors pop all summer 🌸🌼

Don’t have a garden space? These seeds can grow in pots, too!
