At least once a year, I see this exact photo (picture number 1), and it reminds me just how important improvement is!

This was the very first thing I ever did as a clown. At the time, I was just an amateur clown with no real personality other than the resemblance of a clown. Looking back at this picture now, it makes me so proud to see how far I’ve come in such a short period of time!

To everyone, clown or not, I recommend taking a moment to look back on your life and see how much you’ve grown. It could be anything—from a hobby to something you’ve turned into a career!

Remember, the more joy you feel, the more joy you can spread to others. And if there’s one thing this world needs more than anything, it’s joy!

Keep growing, keep improving, and most importantly, keep spreading joy!

Earl Chaney (born March 6, 1945), known as “Mr. Clown,” is an accomplished American circus clown, performer, and educator. A graduate of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, he performed with Ringling in the 1970s before going on to a long career dedicated to clowning. Peggy Williams made history as the first woman to graduate from Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College in 1970 and earn a performing contract with The Greatest Show on Earth. Her groundbreaking career helped pave the way for women in circus clowning.
