If I’m spending money, cameras are usually involved! That being said, I’m really great at photography, specifically capturing life’s most exciting, exquisite, celebratory moments… to capture special memories, achievements, milestones, transitions for people, families, and organizations is an absolute honor. Taking my gear seriously is part of the commitment. 🙌🏽

First look at your wedding reception BEFORE your grand introductions?! That’s always a “YES” as your wedding photographer! Why? It’s another amazing photo opportunity for portraits before guests arrive, sit, move things, and the celebration begins. ✨

Veiled in pearls, amber, and golden light….✨

Your accessories, your wedding services, team, venue, bridal and groom prep suites, your indoor church ceremony or your outdoor natural ceremony, all your wedding details are drawn from for inspiration during wedding portraits. Therefore, it’s NO surprise that David and Scarlett’s wedding portraits were naturally giving “timeless wedding elegance”…..

It IS the sunshine 🌞 state…… when photographing people outside:

Chase Soft Light
The best outdoor portraits are usually taken during the hour after sunrise or the hour before sunset (golden hour). Soft light is more flattering and helps avoid harsh shadows and squinting.

Watch the Background
Before clicking the shutter, scan behind your subject. Trees growing out of heads, distracting signs, parked cars, or bright objects can pull attention away from the person you’re photographing.

Use Movement
Instead of stiff poses, encourage natural movement:
Walk slowly
Brush hair behind an ear
Hold hands and chat
Movement creates authentic expressions and more candid-looking images.

Find Open Shade
When the sun is bright overhead, look for open shade near buildings, under tree canopies, or beside structures. This creates even lighting across the face and reduces harsh shadows.

Focus on Connection, Not Perfection
The most memorable photos aren’t always perfectly posed. Focus on genuine laughter, eye contact, emotion, and interaction. A real moment almost always outperforms a perfect pose.

Quick Reminder: Light → Background → Connection. If you nail those three things, you’re already ahead. ✨📷

We’ve got this….When we build out a wedding photography timeline we take into consideration every detail from the time that glam will be arriving to where your bridal prep suite is located, the transportation for you to your vows, the timing of your departures, arrivals, who you will have with you, your wedding party, first looks, and more.

Don’t miss a detail. When you work with Victoria Machin Photography, our team works with your wedding planner to ensure we capture every moment and just within your wedding morning alone there’s so much to discuss. From champagne toasts with your bridal party to putting on your gown, your hair and makeup glam squad and when you would like your wedding photography to begin.

Not sure about any details yet, that’s perfectly fine. Save this post when you’re ready to connect.

As if Colombia isnt colorful on its own, the photography GODS blessed us with this colorful display of umbrellas, which is a global trend to attract people with a lively street artwork display. These vibrant umbrellas are meant to attract more life within historic areas, local businesses, and usher in people by creating photo opportunities with color.

Once again proving that ….the world wants to capture what’s beautiful and what’s beautiful attracts people! It’s a vibrantly awe inspiring cycle and …. I brought my camera!

Destination photography literally takes you places you never even imagined. While photographing Giselle and John around Bogota we decided on portraits in front of Cataderal Primada de Colombia (originally built in 1539, this is the 4th build out over the centuries), located within Plaza de Bolivar.

The sky was heavenly in these portraits and the shadows…. it’s not lost on me that we found the light at the cathedral! ✨

In 2025 Bogota’s rich history of marionettes (títeres) (dating back to the late 1800s) was on display while photographing Giselle and John around the city. Hundreds of years later and this art form is still vibrantly alive! 🇨🇴

Ironically enough, Bogota was considered the center for puppetry during its Golden Era (1930s-1950s) and we were lucky enough to stumble across this performer while capturing my newlyweds.

Venture across Colombia with me as I reminisce on Giselle and John’s Colombian portraits this week! 🌱
