Getting up on my soap box about Guest Lists!

As much as I love going to a wedding and seeing all that the beautiful day holds….
Going to weddings is expensive for the guest but especially the wedding couple!

There needs to be a shift in who makes our guest list. STOP inviting people just to invite them or because someone else told you to!

Invite only the people that you care about. Stop wasting money on people that you wouldn’t call in an emergency or to talk about every day life with.

Here’s the rules to making the guest list…if you say no to the following, CUT THEM FROM YOUR GUEST LIST:

1. Have I talked to them in the past 1-2 years?
2. Would I go grab coffee or lunch with them?
3. Have they supported me?
4. Do we have a relationship?
5. They would make my day complete!

Yes it’s hard to remove friends and family from your guest list but honestly weddings are freaking expensive!!! Invite the people you love and who love you back. The ones who you can’t see your wedding day without.

Everyone else will be fine…they weren’t meant to be there and that’s ok!

Wedding Tip: The most expensive part of your wedding day is= your guests! Save money by cutting your guest list

After many years of being a wedding coordinator, I have talked with so many wedding couples and I have definitely noticed a trend in most of their thoughts and feelings…when it comes to their wedding day.

Wedding planning can put a lot of stress on a wedding couple. Anxiety and stress about having the perfect wedding day is a real thing!

Each wedding couple wants to make sure that each guest and themselves have the best day ever! A lot weighs upon one day.

So when I’m asked what do I recommend as non-negotiables for wedding days…..I always like to refer back to what my past brides and grooms have told me

✨Here’s what a majority of wedding couples are saying are a MUST and what they Do NOT regret doing on their wedding day:

1. Setting time aside for just themselves - alone time for the wedding couple
2. Slowing down their day - removing extra traditions that don’t mean anything to them
3. Hiring a wedding coordinator - having a day-of or month-of coordinator who handles the whole day
4. Making the day about them - yup! Remembering that this day is about marrying the love of your life and it’s not about anything else
5. Stop trying to make everyone happy - do what makes you happy as a couple …everyone else can suck it!

As a Wedding Coordinator, I have been doing weddings for a long time now and I am going to share exactly what I would have on my wedding day

I’m blessed to have truly witnessed so many beautiful wedding days full of wonderful wedding couples, supportive guests, DIY or rented decor, florals (one of my favorite parts), and energized dance floors

Let me share what your wedding day should definitely have….you NEED these!!!

Here’s my list of MUST HAVES:

🎤 Professional DJ - determines the vibe, feel, energy, and rhythm of the day…let’s make a memorable event
📋 Wedding Coordinator or Planner - handles your day-of so that you can enjoy your day…stress-free wedding day, yes please
🌮 Catering - good food is what you and your wedding guests need…Everyone remembers a yummy meal
💌 Thank yous - whether it’s a personalized letter, toast, or specialized gift…let your guests know you value and love them and their support

Do these make you have an AH-HA moment or maybe you already planned on these??

Well here’s the truth….LOTS of weddings do not include these and it shows! So many couples have a beautiful event planned but then the food tastes awful or the DJ is annoying and plays the worst songs ever! I’ve also seen the bride and mother of the bride setting up all the wedding decor up until 30-60 minutes before the ceremony starts and now they are sweaty, stressed, and exhausted!!!
