To Our Valparaiso Community,

Yesterday, many of you noticed that we had to close at the Popcorn Festival earlier than planned. At the time, we weren’t able to share details, and yet the kindness and patience we received from this community was overwhelming. For that, we are deeply grateful.

It is with heavy hearts that we now share the reason. One of our long-time employees—part of our team for over 5 years—experienced a sudden medical emergency during the event and tragically passed away while being transported to the hospital. Another member of our staff was by his side.

This loss has shaken our entire team. While we cannot share more details at this time out of respect for his family, we ask for your continued understanding as we navigate the days ahead without someone who meant so much to us.

We also want to sincerely apologize to anyone disappointed by our early closure at the festival. Your compassion and blind support yesterday did not go unnoticed, and it means more to us than we can ever express.

Thank you for holding space for us, for respecting this moment of privacy, and for standing with us as a community.
