Dahlia season is coming to a close…. I’m still loving the blooms. These are some of my favorites this year: Black Magic, Lemon Tart, Fuzzy Wazzy, Lollipop, T&L special (top bloom, don’t know it’s name), and the light orange bloom in the middle…. also name unknown, but my absolute favorite in this bunch.

Tagging Swan Island Dahlias just in case they can easily identify the orange bloom.

Wowzah… What an afternoon !!! My orange echinacea is glowing!! The bees are taking up camp in the neighboring oregano & salvia, and the Russian Sage found the early evening light. Not to mention, the sweet little white butterflies. It’s a mid-summer delight!

It’s June 30th, and my record for dahlia blooms has been surpassed again. While there are dozens of buds ready to open, this Fuzzy Wuzzy dahlia is the 5th to open. In other news, the zinnias are coming on, bee balm is flourishing, and the echinacea are prolific. Yes! Lovin’ my summer garden!

I freakin’ love spring. When the new comes in, my heart skips a beat. I can’t get enough of the new growth on the maple trees, and the lithodora just about leaps from its rock garden tops. Sometimes I wish we could press pause to really savor spring. For now, I’m loving walks in my hood and any moment I can spare puttsing in the garden…
