we had a VERY strong showing at this year’s Student Research Forum!

two of our graduate students took top honors in the Liberal & Fine Arts category. Mark Cellini earned 1st place 🥇, and Lora Yopp followed with 2nd 🥈!

Mark’s research looks at how neuroscience-based practice strategies like mental practice, chunking, and deliberate repetition can be brought into ensemble rehearsals to improve both performance and long-term learning. Lora’s work explores how American music conservatories evolved from the European master-apprentice model into more accessible, diverse, and innovative spaces for music study.

Mark will also be presenting this research at the Tennessee Music Educators Association Conference in Nashville, one of the largest gatherings of music educators in the state. It brings together teachers, performers, and industry leaders from across Tennessee, making it a major platform to share new ideas and influence music education 🎶

great work from both!
