⚔️ Brevard Renaissance Fair Update

Friends, vendors, fans, and fellow adventurers,
We wanted to share a quick update about where we’re at in our ongoing quest for a new home for the Brevard Renaissance Fair.

Over the past four months, we’ve walked away from three different deals, not because we’re indecisive, but because we’ve become experts in what I now proudly call “Due Diligence.” Having been burned a few times in the past, we’ve learned to double-check, triple-check, and make absolutely sure that everyone who needs to sign off does so. Every “i” dotted, every “t” crossed, every state, county, district, city, and ancient rulebook consulted, and signs off.

Our latest adventure? We’re currently navigating a rule from 1960, yes, nineteen-sixty, that’s managed to pop up and complicate things. We believe it can be resolved, but if not, we’ll do what we’ve always done: thank them kindly and move on to the next.

In the meantime, we’re working on a temporary site not far from home. Once everything’s finalized, we’ll announce where the next fair will be held.

We know this process has taken longer than anyone hoped, including us, but if it were easy… everybody would do it. Thank you all for your patience, faith, and continued support.

The realm is alive and well, just taking the scenic route to its new castle. 🏰✨

✨ A Message of Gratitude from the Brevard Renaissance Fair ✨

To everyone who has reached out, Thank You. Your support means the world to us as we begin the journey of building a permanent home for the Brevard Renaissance Fair.

We owe our success to our loyal fans and generous supporters, as well as to the volunteers and employees who pour their time, heart, and energy into making the Fair magical year after year. You are the backbone of this dream.

Soon, we hope to announce the new location of our permanent site. We’ve kept this quiet until all the T’s are crossed and the I’s are dotted, but we’re closer than ever to sharing this exciting news.

In the weeks ahead, we’ll also provide details on the many ways you can participate in this next chapter—through donations, sponsorships, partnerships, volunteering, employment, and even investing as the site grows.

This dream belongs to all of us. Together, with your hands, hearts, and voices, we’ll create a place that future generations will treasure.

⚔️ With gratitude,
The Brevard Renaissance Fair

Hear ye, noble folk of the realm! ⚔️🏰

The scrolls have been filled with questions: “Will the Brevard Renaissance Fair return this January and February?” The answer, dear friends, is yes—though the path has been longer and twistier than first foretold.

Our fellowship has been deep in council, working to secure an enormous and wondrous parcel of land—a kingdom vast enough for our fair to grow, flourish, and enchant generations yet to come. 🌳✨

The quest has taken longer than we first imagined, for the deal is both complex and far greater than the one we first pursued. Yet as any wizard will tell you: the finest spells take time to weave.

Soon, when the ink is dry and the stars align, we shall unveil the grand news. Until then, we thank you, our Royal Family, loyal vendors, gallant performers, and steadfast patrons. Without your faith, the magic would fade.

Fear not, the fair SHALL ride again, bigger, bolder, and brighter than ever before. Keep thy garb at the ready, and prepare to step into a new age of wonder with us. ⚜️

To Our BRF Family,

I want to speak to you all directly, because for over a decade, you’ve been the lifeblood of the Brevard Renaissance Fair.

We’ve hit a crossroads. Due to restrictions placed on our site by the City of Melbourne, we were no longer able to host the fair and the many other gatherings, shows, and festivals we dreamed of bringing you, the very events we envisioned for Castle Park, a home for laughter, craft, music, and memories all year long. We poured real money and heart into making that vision a reality, trusting the city and county would reach a deal to support it.

We looked for every possible way to get an exemption from the city while they worked through zoning and other issues, but it became clear that wouldn’t happen, and we weren’t about to throw more good money after bad. Ultimately, the endless hurdles and lack of commitment from the city made staying impossible, so we made the hard call to move on.

And that means exactly what it sounds like: we will be leaving Brevard County. As hard as that is to say, it’s the only way forward for us to keep growing, creating, and celebrating together without limitations. We want something stable that we can count on, a true home where we don’t have to hold our breath every year and wonder which way the political winds will blow. And rest assured, our new site will be close enough for our Brevard family to find us, just a short journey down the road to a place we can finally call our own.

And while that’s disappointing, believe me, it stings, I’m thrilled to share that we’re already forging toward greener pastures. We’re on the verge of securing a permanent home for the fair, a place where we can dream bigger, build more, and genuinely make magic year after year. Your belief in us, your cheers, and your unwavering support have been the inspiration that keeps me moving forward when the road gets rough.

So mark your calendars, polish your armor, and oil your lutes, the next Brevard Renaissance Fair will run from January 17th through February 22nd, 2026, in a brand new home we can finally call ours.

The details must stay under wraps for now (secrets and scrolls, you know how it is), but know this, the next chapter of BRF will be bolder, brighter, and built to last.

Keep your swords sharp and your mugs ready, because when we plant our flag, it’ll be somewhere we can grow for years to come, free from all the old worries.

Thank you for standing with me, your cheers, loyalty, and love make this dream possible. Please support us by following, sharing, and keeping the spirit of BRF alive in your hearts and timelines. The best is yet to come.

Huzzah,
Pete

Today, on Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women of the U.S. military who gave their lives in service to this nation. Their sacrifice built the foundation of the freedoms we often take for granted. We remember them as soldiers, sons, daughters, parents, and friends who never made it home.
But as we reflect, remember that America never stood alone. In distant lands and desperate hours, soldiers from allied nations have fought and died beside ours. From the beaches of Normandy to the mountains of Afghanistan, the cost of freedom has been shared.
Their courage, sacrifice, and unity with our troops deserve to be remembered today, too. War may be brutal, but the bonds forged in battle between nations striving for peace and justice are enduring.
To all who have fallen, American or ally, we remember you, honor you, and are forever grateful.

For those who have ever walked the grounds of the Texas Renaissance Festival, you know it's more than just an event—it's an experience, a world built from imagination, ambition, and a love for history and performance. Today, that world lost its founder, George Coulam, often referred to as “King George.”

Yes, he was a complicated figure—visionary, controversial, and unapologetically bold—but even his critics would agree: he created something truly remarkable. From humble beginnings in the 1970s, what started as a small gathering in Todd Mission, Texas, grew into the largest Renaissance festival in the United States, drawing hundreds of thousands each season. Under his leadership, the Texas Renaissance Festival became a kingdom of its own—filled with laughter, art, music, magic, and memories that have shaped the lives of performers, vendors, staff, and guests for generations.

Regardless of how history remembers the man, the legacy he leaves behind is undeniable. He dreamed big, built boldly, and gave countless people a place to belong.

May he rest in peace—and may the festival he built continue to inspire wonder for years to come.

We recently lost one of our most cherished longtime attendees, June Barton, who passed away at the age of 99. June never missed a year of the event and always made sure to go see her “boyfriend,” Timmie, the bar manager.

Celebrate the life of June Barton, leave a kind word or memory and get funeral service information care of Brevard Memorial Funeral Home & Park.
