SAVE SECOND BASE — PEDALING WITH A PURPOSE 💗
Team Beecycle + Team Grizzly
This September and October, the Medina Pedal Company and Grizzly Pedal Company are joining forces for something that’s about a whole lot more than taking a ride around town.
We’re launching Save Second Base: Pedaling with a Purpose — a series of special rides and a community fundraising effort designed to do two things:
Raise awareness about cancer, screenings and taking care of ourselves — and raise some money to help local families who are already in the fight.
The name Save Second Base is meant to be a little fun. It’s a play on baseball, breast cancer awareness and maybe even a little of that 80s and 90s humor many of us grew up with.
But the cause itself is very real.
There are very few families that haven’t been touched by cancer in some way. When someone is going through treatment, the battle isn’t limited to the doctor’s office. There are mortgages, utility bills, groceries and everyday expenses that don’t stop because someone can’t work. Sometimes it’s a parent taking time away from work to care for a child, spouse or loved one.
That’s why our Medina County fundraising efforts will benefit Race with Grace, a local organization that has spent years helping families dealing with cancer and the financial challenges that can come with it.
We’re not pretending that a couple of pedal bikes are going to raise enough money to change the world.
But maybe together we can raise enough to make a difference in somebody’s world.
And there are several ways to join us.
💗 RIDE WITH US
Join Team Beecycle or Team Grizzly on one of our special $40 Save Second Base: Pedaling with a Purpose mixer rides during September and October. A portion of every seat sold will be donated to Race with Grace.
💗 BRING YOUR COMPANY ABOARD
Turn your next office outing into a team-building event with a purpose. Book a private pedal tour and consider adding a $100 or greater donation to Race with Grace. We’ll recognize participating businesses with photos and a Community Spotlight sharing why your team chose to get involved.
💗 SPONSOR A FAMILY
Know a local family going through cancer treatment that could use an evening away from doctors, appointments and everything else they’re dealing with? Businesses, organizations and individuals can help sponsor a pedal-bike experience for a family and their friends or loved ones.
💗 JUST JOIN THE TEAM
You don’t have to pedal at all. Individuals and local businesses can simply make a donation and become part of Team Beecycle or Team Grizzly. We’ll recognize the people and organizations that join us as we build our team throughout September and October.
And we’re keeping this simple.
No special T-shirt required. Wear pink. Wear blue. Make your own shirt. Grab a crazy wig. Dress alike with your coworkers. Come exactly as you are.
We’d rather put those extra dollars toward helping a family than putting another shirt in somebody’s closet.
The Beecycle will also be joining Race with Grace at their September event as we continue raising money and awareness through October.
So get your physical. Know your numbers. Talk to your doctor about the screenings appropriate for you. Encourage somebody you love to do the same.
And if you can, ride with us, give with us, or help us give a local family a reason to smile.
