Summer Band is next week!! See below for details!

The SJMS Summer Band Camp is Tuesday, July 28th through Thursday, July 30th from 6-8 PM. The camp will be in the Scott Johnson MS Band Hall and students will need to enter through Door #9 in the back of the school. We need all 7th & 8th students to attend the camp, as we require a full band to sound our best at the upcoming 6th Grade Meet the Teacher Pep Rally. These three days of rehearsals are preparation for the performance. Thank you to the families that have already communicated that your child cannot attend. This helps us plan for all parts to be covered in the music.
Students need to bring their instrument/drum pad & stick bag. Please make sure that your child’s instrument is in good working condition, and they have the supplies needed to play (reeds, valve oil, swab, etc.). The students will receive new binders at camp.
On Thursday, July 30th we will host an optional party from 8:00-9:00 PM. We will hang out, make new friends, listen to music and eat some snacks!! To host the party, we will need MISD cleared parent chaperones. Please email Mrs Zeier if you are available from 7:45-9:15 PM. ([email protected])
The SJMS Band is performing at the 6th Grade Meet the Teacher Pep Rally on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 11th. Students need to meet in the Big Gym in their 2025-2026 royal blue band t-shirt at 1:30 PM. Students will enter through the front entrance. They need to bring their instrument and new band binder. Only students that attended the Summer Band Camp will perform at the 6th Grade Meet the Teacher Pep Rally.

Do you like to draw? Do you have a good eye for fashion? Are you creative?
Then enter a design in our 26-27 Band T-Shirt Design Contest!!

All designs must be submitted in pdf format
Designs due by July 27th
T-Shirt design must clearly state “SJMS Band 26-27”
May use up to three ink colors in the design (remember the t-shirt color will also be a color in the design)
Contest open to 7th/8th grade Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble members only

We're so excited for Games and Glow Day tomorrow! We hope our 7th and 8th graders can join us!
The session is from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Please drop off and pick up your child in the back of the school. Your child will knock on door #9 to be let in to the Band Hall. Wearing neon colors is encouraged, and show up ready to learn fun music and compete in some games!
Please have your child bring their instrument/stick bag and band binder for the session.

We are 2 weeks away from Summer Band! 7th and 8th graders - please join us on July 28-30 from 6-8 PM for Summer Band. The rehearsals are preparation for the 6th Grade Meet the Teacher Event on August 11th. Specific time information for the Event will be shared as soon as we have it.

Please note: We need all Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble students to attend Summer Band and the Pep Rally for a successful performance. Please let us know now if your child will not be able to attend.

Students need to bring their instrument/stick bag. Please make sure your instrument is in good working condition and you have the supplies needed to play. Students will receive new binders at camp.
