Allow me a minute to share with you
a very personal time in my life.
I don’t know who needs to hear this today,
but I came across this photo
and I didn’t recognize myself.
It brought me back to some
very dark times not too long ago.
I saw this photo and I thought,
“Who is this woman?”
She is so different now
than she was 18 months ago. 🌸🥺🌸
When you are in the midst of the storm,
you can’t see past the pain and the suffering.
I know I didn’t. It’s easy to want to give up,
fall into depression, continue to ask,
“Why me?” and question God’s plan.
In the middle of my battle, and hiding within
what I thought was my shame,
I bunkered down in God’s word.
I went to church, and I went to Bible study,
even on the days when I didn’t want to.
There I found an outlet to release my feelings and emotions. I’d walk in and immediately want to cry. I couldn’t hear stories or hold conversations because the emotions and tears would overwhelm me.
In the middle of that internal battle, I learned that God wanted me to surrender my desire to control everything around me, to stop finding the logic in things, and just surrender to His will. He was shaping me, remolding me, breaking me down so I would understand His teachings and so that I would be ready to come home — home to His teachings, to learn more of His word, to understand His purpose for me; home to baptism and my journey to know Him more and walk a path in His name.
I have always believed in God, and I am deep in my faith, but this was different. I could see more clearly, feel more deeply.
I stopped questioning. I placed my eyes and my faith deep in Him. I asked for clarity and wisdom. I prayed to learn how to let go, to heal, to learn to love and respect myself.
My journey has just started. I try harder every day. I learn more every day. I feel better every day.
This is my testimony today: God is good, and although we may not see the plan when we are in pain, God has a plan. All we need to do is sit still, talk to Him, and listen. 🫶
If you are going through a hard time today. You are not alone. God can heal you! 🌸
