nine years ago today, i was watching ashley marry her high school sweetheart. sadly in the last year, isaiah passed from cancer, leaving behind ashley & their three amazing kids.
ashley reached out to me a few weeks ago with this concept and i was honored to do it for her. these photos represent and memorialize an amazing husband and father, but they're also paying tribute to the little things ashley notices that isaiah would've loved if he were still earthside--his truck, her red nails, a plate of sushi, the kids...
grief is not something that's linear. it curves and snakes and undulates with a merciless pace. but art can help honor that process. this was more than just a shoot for ashley & i--it was an opportunity to laugh and talk about isaiah, remembering him for his sunshine personality & selfless heart. he was definitely in that room with us yesterday, and i know he's always with his family.
it's just the kind of guy he was β€οΈ
