And here we are… Part 3! 💐🌸

After walking through the dahlia garden and showing you some of our secondary flowers, here’s where it all comes together — the office, completely overflowing with flowers from the last 2 days of harvesting.

Everything you see here was grown right here at Nana’s Blue Greenhouse and was tall enough, strong enough, and ready to make its way into bouquets. Dahlias, celosia, zinnias, gomphrena, flowering to***co, Snow-on-the-Mountain, and all of those little pieces that make an arrangement feel full, wild, and completely us.

There is something pretty special about seeing the harvest laid out like this. It’s one thing to walk through the rows and see what’s growing, but seeing it all gathered together after a few days of cutting really makes you stop and appreciate just how much the garden is giving us right now.

And August… you have been GOOD to us. 🌸

We are so incredibly thankful for these August fields — for the abundance, the color, the variety, the long stems, the unexpected surprises, and honestly, just the sheer amount of flowers we get to work with right now. This is the part of the season we dream about when we’re planting seeds and wondering what everything is going to become.

So now it’s time to turn this beautiful mess into bouquets. 💐

Part 2 of our Monday garden walk is here! 🌸 And this time, we’re leaving the dahlias behind and taking a stroll through some of the flowers that help bring our bouquets to life.

Florists often call these our “fillers,” but around Nana’s Blue Greenhouse, we think they deserve a little more credit than that. 😉 These flowers add movement, texture, shape, color, and all those little details that make an arrangement feel full and interesting.

We’ve got Orange Queen celosia Johnny's Selected Seeds , a whole mixed row of celosia ranging from fluffy feathers and plumes to those gorgeous spikes, with even a handful of gomphrena tucked in. We’re also glancing at our own Nana’s Blue Greenhouse zinnia seed patch, Snow-on-the-Mountain euphorbia that is absolutely taking over the frame, and flowering to***co that is putting on one heck of a show right now.

Some of the plants are just beginning to mature, while others are completely ready to be cut and brought into the cooler. And that cockscomb… 😍 That giant bloom at the end was just too good not to stop and admire up close!

And can we talk about the flowering to***co?! She is absolutely stunning in full bloom. The little “camera shutter” sounds in the music were honestly perfect because these flowers deserve their own little photoshoot. 📸🌿

This is what we love about growing our own flowers. It’s not just about the big, show-stopping blooms. It’s all of these little pieces growing alongside them that eventually come together to make something beautiful.

And tomorrow, we’re taking you from the garden into the office! 🌸 I’ll be putting all of these flowers to work and making bouquets with everything we harvested over the last two days.

Tuesday mornings look a little something like this around here. 🌸

Come take a walk through the dahlia feild with us and get a little glimpse of what’s happening out in the rows! Everything you’re seeing in this video was filmed during today’s harvest, so this is exactly what the garden was giving us this morning.

We’re getting to that point in the season where the dahlias are really starting to hit their stride, and I honestly couldn’t be more excited. Peaches N Cream, Sweet Natalie, Café au Lait, Café Pink, Boomquist York, Black Satin… there are blooms everywhere you look, and the variety of shapes and colors is just incredible.

As you walk down the rows, you’ll see everything from decorative dahlias to balls and waterlilies, and I had to stop for a few close-ups because some of these blooms deserve a much closer look. The layers, the texture, the petals, the way each flower opens differently… we are completely obsessed.

And then there were these two at the end… are you kidding me?! 😍 The petal shape on those Dahlias absolutely stunning.

This is just a little peek at what our Tuesday shift looked like. Now wait until you see what all of those blooms turned into!

Maybe you’ll get tired of seeing the dahlias… but we never get tired of them. 😂🌸

There’s just something so exciting about watching an entire row start to come to life and suddenly give you fistfuls of blooms. The Café dahlias are showing off, and we’re especially excited about our brand-new Bloomquist York, which we picked up from Allison & Jonathan | West Virginia Flower Farm Farms at the end of last year. We’ve been anxiously waiting to see how she would perform here, and so far, she is looking like she’s going to be a wonderfully prolific addition to the farm. 🤍

The rest of our first-year dahlias are still coming into their own. We have a few blooms to show off here and there, but we’re really waiting for those plants to get established and start giving us multiple stems. That’s one of my favorite parts of growing dahlias — watching them go from that first little bloom to a full, productive plant.

Dahlias have definitely become one of our biggest focuses (and passions) on the farm. I honestly think they are one of the most gorgeous crops to grow, and every season I find myself getting even more excited about them.

And now… we’re heading into the BEST part. 🌸 August and September are our peak dahlia season, so if you’ve been waiting for dahlias, this is your time! Keep an eye out for all the colors, shapes, and varieties coming out of the patch over the next couple of months.

And if you’re already dreaming about next year, start paying attention to those variety names 👀 because some of your favorites may eventually make their way into our tuber sale.

Even though it might seem a little out of order to be talking about dried flowers in the middle of our growing season, we're actually drying flowers all season long to build up our inventory for winter and to restock all of our vendors with seasonally appropriate dried bouquets.

It's always exciting to start unpacking the flowers we tucked away in silica and see how they dried. Watching them hold their shape and keep such incredible color never gets old. The electric blue delphinium is absolutely gorgeous, and these bright orange ball dahlias dried almost exactly as they looked in the field.

We're so excited to start pulling out these beauties and putting them to use in our fall wreaths, brooms, dried flower art, and some new shadow boxes we've been working on. This is just the beginning of another season of creating, and we can't wait to share what's ahead!

The dahlias have officially taken over... and we couldn't be happier. 🌸✨

These rows have already been cut twice, and somehow they're only getting started. These are Café au Lait, Sweet Natalie, Mystery Day, Who Me?, Fleurel, and so many more are almost ready!

At the end of this reel, you'll see a bouquet I put together for my mom (better known around here as Nana). 💙 She deserves every single stem.

This flower farm is made possible in a really special way by her. She lets us farm on her land and generously shares her greenhouse, so we can bring all of this to life. We've spent years learning together, changing directions, making mistakes, celebrating small victories, and slowly figuring out what kind of flower farm we wanted Nana's Blue Greenhouse to become. The journey hasn't always been easy, and these beautiful blooms are only one small piece of the story. Behind every bouquet are long days, tough decisions, and a whole lot of hope that the hard work would eventually bloom into something worth sharing.

And this... this is one of those moments.

The dahlias have become our favorite crop to grow. Every season they amaze us a little more, and this year's plants are absolutely loaded with buds. What you're seeing here is only the first few rows of a bed that's just beginning to come alive, and we are beyond excited to watch it explode with color over the next few weeks.

Thank you to everyone who's followed along, encouraged us, and supported this little farm. Your kindness means more than you know, and we're so excited to keep sharing this dahlia season with you.

Months of planting, weeding, watering, and waiting have turned into buckets full of flowers. Every morning the harvest gets a little bigger, and walking through the fields right now is the kind of reward that makes all the hard days worth it.

The dahlias are in full bloom, the gladiolus have finally taken off, the zinnias just keep producing, and we're so excited to have more fillers like celosía, cosmos verbena and marigolds joining the mix. Every bouquet this weekend is going to be packed with color.

Seeing the office go from "before" to "after" never gets old. It's a reminder of why we love farming—there's something incredibly rewarding about watching months of hard work come to life one bloom at a time.

Looking back through these arrangements, it's hard not to smile. Every one of them reminds us of the people who trusted us to create something special for an important moment in their lives.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our little flower farm this season. Whether you've ordered a bouquet, trusted us with an event, shared a post, or simply stopped by to cheer us on, you've helped make this season feel much better than mother nature has made us feel.
We pour so much of ourselves into these flowers, so seeing them become part of your celebrations is incredibly rewarding. We're excited for everything still to come, and we're so grateful to have such a wonderful community growing alongside us. 💐

Three years ago, these dahlias existed only as seeds. Today, they're on the verge of becoming named varieties.

Every dahlia grown from seed is genetically unique, so every bloom started as a complete surprise.

Over the past three seasons, we grew, evaluated, and selected the seedlings that truly stood out. We fell in love with painterly streaks, anemone-style centers, and open-faced blooms with multiple layers of petals—flowers that still welcomed pollinators while holding up better in the garden and vase than single-petaled forms.

The blooms you're seeing have now shown the consistency and stability we were hoping for. This fall, we'll divide their tubers to expand our stock, and if everything continues to go as planned, these will be the first dahlias we've bred that will be available for sale.

Watching a tiny seed become a flower unlike any other is exciting. Watching it prove itself year after year is even better.

And yes... that little bee seemed to agree. 🐝💛
