Two unforgettable entertainers gone on the same day.....

Dolly Parton and Tim Curry, two legendary entertainers both born in 1946, died on the same day, August 25, 2026, at the age of 80.

Parton’s death was announced first after she died peacefully in Nashville following a brief battle with cancer. Born January 19, 1946, in Tennessee, she transformed herself from a young country songwriter into one of the most recognizable entertainers in the world. Her career produced classics including “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You.” Beyond music, her work stretched into acting, business and decades of philanthropy, including the Imagination Library that placed millions of books into the hands of children.

Then came the announcement that Tim Curry had also died on August 25 at his Los Angeles home. Curry was born April 19, 1946, only three months after Parton, and went on to build an extraordinary career across theater, film, television and voice acting. His performance as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in ‘THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW’ made him a permanent cult-film icon. Roles in ‘IT,’ ‘CLUE,’ ‘HOME ALONE 2: LOST IN NEW YORK’ and countless other projects showed a range that could move effortlessly from terrifying to hilarious.

Their careers could hardly have looked more different, yet both became unmistakable figures within popular culture. Parton built her legacy through songwriting, country music, generosity and an instantly recognizable public persona. Curry created characters so distinctive that many became inseparable from his performances. Both spent decades producing work that continued reaching new generations long after their earliest successes.

There is also something especially poignant about the dates surrounding their lives. Both were born in 1946, both reached their 80th birthdays in 2026, and both died on August 25. News of Parton’s death emerged first, followed by confirmation of Curry’s passing the following day. Two completely separate careers ultimately ended on the same date after eight decades of life.

Dolly Parton leaves behind songs that became part of music history, while Tim Curry leaves behind performances that permanently changed cult cinema, horror and comedy. Their work crossed generations, genres and borders in ways few entertainers ever manage. August 25, 2026 will now carry the names of two extraordinary artists whose influence stretched far beyond any single song, film or character.
