There’s a difference between decorating a space and designing an experience.
Here’s how to know which one you actually need:
1️⃣ You want a feeling, not just a look.
Decorators make things pretty. Designers create atmosphere. If you’re saying “I want it to feel romantic and intimate,” not just “I want pink flowers” then you need a designer.
2️⃣ You care about the flow of your day
Decorators place centerpieces. Designers map how guests move through the space, where moments happen, and how the timeline unfolds. If logistics stress you out, you need a designer.
3️⃣ You’re working with a challenging venue
Blank canvas space? Awkward layout? Outdoor with no backup plan? Decorators add to what’s there. Designers transform what’s there. If your venue needs help, you need a designer.
4️⃣ You want everything to feel cohesive
Decorators work in categories (florals here, lighting there, linens over there). Designers see the whole picture, how every element works together to tell your story. If “cohesive” matters to you, you need a designer.
5️⃣ You don’t want to think about it
Decorators need direction. Designers bring vision. If you want someone to take your Pinterest board and turn it into a fully realized experience without you managing every detail, you need a designer.
At Curate By Dream, we’re designers.
We don’t just style your celebration. We create emotional architecture, the mood, the flow, the visual narrative that makes you feel something.
That’s the difference. And it’s everything.
