With heavy hearts, we said goodbye yesterday to our beloved donkey, Fred, who lived nearly 40 years. 💔
If you’ve visited the ranch over the years, there’s a good chance you met Fred. He was always gentle, friendly, and loved a good scratch or snack. As he got older and the herd dynamics changed, we brought him closer to the house where he could retire peacefully alongside our elderly horse, Winston.
For the last two years, Fred lived a quiet, happy life—grazing, soaking up attention, and being deeply loved every single day.
We will miss him more than words can say. 😞
Now, as we navigate this loss, our sweet Winston finds himself a bit of a lonesome old man. At around 30 years old, he is a retired trail horse with arthritis that is well-managed through daily medication with his feedings and monthly pain injections. Our vet believes he still has a good quality of life ahead of him.
We are hoping to find Winston the perfect retirement home—somewhere he can continue to graze peacefully, be cared for daily, and most importantly, have a gentle, kind companion by his side.
If you or someone you know can offer Winston a soft place to land for his golden years, please reach out. 🤍
RIP Fred 🤍
