My name is Allison and I'm the owner & 'Chief Flower Fanatic' at She Blooms Flower Farm . 💐

This year, we're bringing our fresh cut, locally grown flowers to the MC Farmers Market.

Just think....You'll be able to stroll through all the great market offerings under the park's grand old shade trees with your bouquet in hand!

One more big perk... at least for me😉... is that I'll get to chat with all of you! Seeing your smiling faces with your freshest of the fresh bouquets in hand is something we miss out on with the flower stand. 🥰

Work Work Work Work Work 🎶

We put a big dent in the long list of To-Dos on the farm today. Huge shout out to this beauty for coming out today.

She needs a title on the farm….
We refer to the guys as The Muscle and me as the Chief Flower Fanatic… but what do you call the big helper who’s a huge part of the inspiration for the flower farm? 🤔🥰

Two truths and a lie.
I’m Dutch.
We have twelve cats.
My first favorite flower was a tulip.

The truths?
I’m Dutch and the Tulip was my first favorite flower.
My maiden name is Van Zante….and we have a strong Dutch heritage. My parents both grew up in the Dutch community of Pella, IA and I’ve always held a special place in my heart for its pride in the culture and Tulip Time.
However it took me this long to grow tulips on the farm on a larger scale yet I couldn’t be more excited. 🌷
I harvested our first few early bloomers today and have them stored to wait for the others to bloom so we can make gorgeous spring bouquets!

… and the lie…. we only have 6 cats 🐈 but that’s usually plenty to keep the rodents at bay. However, if anyone knows ways to teach them how to capture a gopher, send them our way. 😤🤪

Petal Perfection 🤩

I’ve had several of you asking when we’ll begin shipping dahlia tubers and the answer is later this week! YAY!
Temps are finally coming into the ‘safe’ range for shipping.
It’s important to us that you receive your tubers as we packaged them here on the farm.
Tubers are at risk of freezing when temps are around that 30°F range and we just won’t risk your babies getting too cold in transit.
Thank you for your patience!

REMINDER: On farm pick up is May 3rd from 10-12. Watch for reminder emails as we get closer.

It’s Crocus time!! 💛💜🤍
The past couple of years, we’ve been adding a few hundred crocus bulbs to our yard each fall.

The result??
Little spring surprises of color all over.

These work great in the yard because by the time the grass is ready for mowing, the crocus lifecycle is over so there’s no threat to the bulb or the yard.

-1 inch of mud washed off the soles of my shoes
-blowing dirt boogies 🤪
-soaking the stained overalls in the wash

…. yet 500 baby Lisianthus are in the tunnel! 🤩

We grew just four of these plants last year as a trial and They. Were. Stunning! So this year it’s go big or go home! (Big for our little farm anyway.😆)
I can’t wait to share these with you this season!
