This past Autumn, it was exciting to host some of the filming for a scene in the film "Into the Wilderness" due to release in 2019. Here is one of the actors, posing for a shot with the owner of Little River Barn & Silo.

It was a pleasure to have Mr. Benton (of Benton's Smoky Mountain Country Hams) here at the Little River Barn for one of our guest's events earlier this month! Pictured here with the owner of Little River Barn & Silo.

Check out the view from the tip top of the silo lodge! Ample windows surround you when you're at the top of the silo, so a good view is not hard to come by. Pretty cool!!

This inscription on the first floor of the silo lodge reads "July 1952" We assume the silo was built at that time. The barn, however, is much older. The wooden pegs and huge oak beam construction are a time capsule back to the 1800's in rural America. While the barn is much older than the silo, the silo does have some good character and stories to tell. Local legend has it that the sheriff of Blount County, Tennessee in the early 1950's was a farmer named Gamble, and that he built the silo to help with the feeding operations on his farm during that day in age. We may never know who chiseled that month and year into the wall of the silo, but if the legend is correct, it very well might have been Sheriff Gamble.

This historic piece of tin roofing was found while cleaning out the loft area of the Little River Barn several years ago. We knew it was special and saved it (and the few others we found). It is now part of the paneling in the silo lodge! We simply could not resist sharing this historic piece of American history in our silo...after all it was found in the adjacent barn loft!

The "Tennessee Coal, Iron & Railroad Company" was founded in the mid-1800's and had major operations in Tennessee and Alabama. It was purchased by United States Steel (then the largest corporation in the world) in the early 1900's before being officially absorbed into its parent company in 1952.

This U.S. 1-cent coin from 1889 was found while digging to install the underground electric lines to the barn. It's amazing to realize how long this barn has been around and all of the events and faces it must have witnessed for well over 100 years. Pretty cool!
