Sunsets with the Baker Family ✨

Mary’s post-session advice: Don’t give your kids cotton candy ice cream before a photo session at bedtime! 😆

Our time together was filled with a lot of fun, laughter, and a lot of energy! No matter the time of day or the snacks given, it can be hard for little ones to cooperate and stay focused during a photo session. But whenever we can incorporate imagination, movement, and play, the photos always turn out the absolute best and it creates more of an authentic and story-telling gallery.

Well it’s sure been a while since I’ve been on here! I took a much needed break from booking sessions to transition into a new phase of life. I’m now permanently living in western Washington and my books are open! It’s finally feeling like summer and I’m so happy to be back ☀️

I had the pleasure of taking engagement photos for Joe & Bri just before they tie the knot this weekend! 🤍💍

I’ve known for quite some time, and I had the pleasure of photographing her and Trent’s engagement photos in Leavenworth and then their wedding several years ago. The quiet intimacy of an in-home newborn session is unlike any other moment I photograph. It’s quiet, comfortable, peaceful, and authentic. I find myself getting really close to my subject because the beauty is really in the little details.

Being allowed into these fleeting moments is something I truly treasure, and it’s shown in the tears that fall while looking at my computer screen. Thank you 🖤

I hope you all had a wonderful and joy-filled Thanksgiving 🧡 As we approach Christmas, it’s easy to get caught up in the “hustle and bustle” of it all. As a Mother, you are most likely responsible for A LOT this time of year, which can bring unnecessary stress. I encourage you to look at this season differently, and with the understanding that this is a period of descent and rest, of going within our homes, within ourselves and taking in all that we have been through, all that has passed in this full year which is coming to a close... like nature and the animal kingdom around us, this time of hibernation is so necessary for our tired limbs, our burdened minds.

Our modern culture teaches avoidance at the max this time of year; alcohol, lights, shopping, overworking, over spending, comfort food and consumerism.
And yet the natural tug to go inwards as nearly all creatures do is strong. The truth is, winter is not so bitter. She is kind. She points us in her quiet soft way towards our inner self, towards this annual time of peace and reflection, embracing the darkness and forgiving, accepting and loving. Embrace this special time as we prepare to say goodbye to the last year of our lives ❤️

I will never shy away from sessions with lots of little ones! Chaos = fun right? 😄 But in all honesty, I absolutely adore family sessions with big families. The more chaos, the better!

Going into a session with your big family might feel stressful. Coordinating everyone’s outfits, scheduling around nap time, and making sure everyone has a full stomach is no easy task. But having candid and genuine photos of your little ones smiling, laughing, and hugging makes it totally worth it!

In-home newborn sessions are unique to each family. They tell your story, from the comfort of your home. No rush getting everyone out the door, making sure the diaper bag is packed and baby is strapped in the carseat. Simple and comfortable, that’s why they are one of my favorite things to photograph 🧡
