The chickens we raise for meat are Cornish Cross. They are moved to movable pens around the age of 3 weeks, depending on weather conditions. They are moved each evening to a fresh, untouched parcel of land. We feed them non-GMO, non-medicated, feed that is freshly ground locally... They are then processed at a USDA Amish processing facility in Arthur, IL

It's been over 2 months since I posted here... I lost my husband in March of this year and it's thrown us all in to a tailspin... I have discussed with family about continuing my meat bird part of the business... it's our intention to do so however it will be very late in beginning this year... working on personal financial details and I'll definitely let folks know when I will start this.... Thanks so much for patience and understanding...

Hey everyone! It's that time of year where I'm starting to think about my meat chicken venture! I hope to be ordering in the next month and I'd like an idea from folks about what they might be interested in... I'm going to tag some of my current and previous customers and just see what everybody's looking for... And just a reminder I still do have eggs available sometimes limited but I do have some!

I will have 8 chickens available for sale on Thursday.... they can be either whole or whole cut-up! Whole chicken = $2.80 per lb and Whole Cut-up is $3.05 per lb... Need to know soon so I can get the processing order to the facility!

We will have chicken available for sale for the August 3 delivery or pickup... Whole Chickens $2.80 pr lb and Whole Cut-Up $3.05 pr lb. This year we have decided to not offer boneless/skinless breast pkgs. they are very costly to us in regards to processing fee and trying to sell the other parts of the chicken..... HOWEVER... for those who already have an order for these in place from last year we will honor that!

Hot and humid... perfect conditions for moving 80 chickens! Yep, today we did it! Had to do a bit of cleaning in the hen house and segment part of it.... move a chicken tractor to be closer to the hen house...then we moved 30 pullets in to the segmented section of the hen house! THEN we set up to move 50 meat birds from brooder to the chicken tractor! It was hot, icky, sticky... got whacked in the head by a chicken wing (ouch)... But we are done with those little chores!

There is no functioning Clark County Farmer's Market...just want to let everyone know that we do have eggs, still a tad bit limited. We will be having chicken this summer. Our first batch of meat birds are already sold but we will have plenty of opportunity through the summer... Always willing to fit a delivery in with my normal travels... Well, folks we are coming to a time where we will decide our last order of chicks for the year.... if anyone needs to get in an order now is the time to do it! Stock up or just wanting a chicken dinner? Let me know! I have chicken available here now.... Right now we have drumsticks, thighs, wings, whole cut-ups, and a few whole on hand right now! Let me know and we can make arrangements!

Crane's Chicken Ranch has succeeded in another Illinois Egg License! We are, however, sold out of eggs! Rare occurrence but it has happened! Need to let my girls catch up now!
