Happy Iowa Museum Week! If you haven’t had a chance to see our new exhibit: “Seeing Anew Part II: Through the Collector’s Eye”, come visit us!

We’re open Wednesdays – Fridays from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM | Second Saturdays of the month from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM (that’s tomorrow 6/13) | Third Thursdays of the month from 4:30 – 6:30 PM.

Painting is titled “La Rievre Seine”, Henry Lebasque, 1927.

This painting was given by Martha-Ellen Tye to her dear friend Marilyn Andrews. Marilyn then donated this painting to our permanent art collection in 2002. It was an honor to hang it. 🫶🏼

It’s finally here! The Apgar Family Water Plaza is officially open, and we couldn’t be more excited. This beautiful project has been years in the making, and it’s a stunning testament to what happens when our community dreams big.

A huge thank you to the Arts + Culture Alliance, community leaders, and donors for their incredible work in bringing this artistic vision to life.

We love seeing art, culture, and community intersect to create spaces we can all enjoy. Grab the family and go check it out next to Mega-10 Park!

A long-awaited dream was officially realized and celebrated on a balmy Saturday morning as the Apgar Family Water Plaza — located next to Mega-10 Park just off of South 6th Street — opened to the public following a dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting.

Arts + Culture Alliance Executive Director Amber Danielson, whose organization played a key role in the design of the unique water feature and also helped to catalyze fundraising efforts, remarked that the event signified “so much more” than the opening of a water plaza.

“We celebrate a vision realized. We celebrate what can happen when a community dreams boldly, plans intentionally and works together to bring something special to life. Projects like this are never built by a single person or an organization. They’re built by communities,” she said. “This project exists because people believed in an idea. They committed to it over time, and this project exists because of public-private partnerships.”

This sculpture was donated to us in memorial of Kenneth R.D. Wolfe. He was an employee of the Fisher Governor Company (now Emerson) for 36 years.

Come enjoy our grounds and the sculpture’s new spot.

And special thanks to Kim Hornberg, Building & Grounds, for moving this sculpture!
