Looking back at the last century, only two Georgia governors will be recognized as political heroes. Only two governors sacrificed their careers in Georgia, in order to do the right thing. The Newer South..."

So when I ran into Timothy Cole the other day and he said "What do you think now about the South?"

And I said, "You mean, now that South Carolina has removed the Confederate flags from the Capitol?"

"Do you mean now that we have honored Governor John Slaton, for comutting Leo Frank's sentence?" I responded.

"Do you mean now, when former Governor Roy Barnes has called for the end of Confederate Memorial Day?" I said.

"Do you mean the Georgia where we have now removed the statue of extreme- racist Thomas E. Watson from the Capitol Grounds?

I asked further "Do you mean the Cobb County where Chief Judge Stephen Schuster has now performed the first Same Sex marriage in Cobb County?"

"Do you mean a Georgia where they are now willing to decalre that Leo Frank was innocent of all charges?

"Yep, " he answered, "All of that and more..."

I thought for a moment and then I said to Tim, "Tim, there is a new breeze that's blowing through Old Dixie. It's some fresh air in Georgia that we have needed for a long time. And that fresh breeze on the wind that you hear blowing? Well, that's the sound of what I call "that newer South..."

It is the palpable symbol of Dr. King's dream, of black and white, or Jew and Gentile and now of straight and gay...

"Tim," I said. "The air of that newer south is what you and Joanne Cole and Madeline Sableand I have bequeathed to our daughters, Shira-Rose Lebow, Savannah Cole, and Julia Lebow. It is a South which is still gentle, decent, kind and hospitable. But make no mistake," I said to Tim.

"There's a whole new South that's coming. We can see it in the winds."

Rabbi Steve Lebow.

Leo Frank 100th Anniversary Service,
Sunday August 16, 2015, 2 pm

Across from "The Big Chicken" and down one block.

Service for Justice for Leo Frank!
Religious, Racial, and Gender Harmony for All

On August 17, 1915 Leo Frank (an innocent man) was lynched in Marietta Georgia by a racist and anti-Semitic mob.
"Leo Frank was wrongly accused, falsely convicted, wantonly murdered..."
Rabbi Steven Lebow

At long last...
Exonerate Leo Frank and in the light of history and facts that are now available, declare Leo Frank innocent of all charges!

05/07/2015

This August will be the 100th yarhzeit (anniversary) of Leo Frank's death. I will return to the lynch site,
as I do every year on August 16 to say a simple kaddish (memorial prayer) for a man caught up in the
anti-semitism and racism of his time.
Perhaps by then the State of Georgia or the City of Marietta will acknowledge one simple fact, just four
words long.
Leo Frank was innocent.
